Yes, please don't be one of those people who smokes during pregnancy! I get so mad when i see women doing that! Disgusting!

Honestly it will be hard...but cold turkey is the best way! I've also had a friend who used that patch, said it helped in the begining but then just went cold turkey! Everytime he wanted a cig he chewed gum instead! Plus you gotta make a strong effort not to be around it!

It will be worth it...a healthy baby and a healthy you!

I have heard that smoking reduces your fertility and it is harder to get pregnant if you are a smoker.

Try to quite ASAP, so when you are pregnant it's not something you have to worry about.

Smoking while pregnant can cause asthma for your kids in the future. Plus other respitory problems. My mother smoked with me and I ahve bad asthma, she didnt smoke with my sister - and she is asthma free.

Im not saying smoking is the only cause of asthma but it doesnt help!! Good luck

Smoking can have an effect on fertility especially for men. The biggest risk is with smoking and being pregnant is that it increases your risk of a miscarriage by 50%. It has also been linked with health problems in the babies born to smokers.

I was a HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY smoker from age 14 to age 28. Sometimes more than 2 packs a day.

It really worked. I found that was the best method for me.... I had tried to quit cold turkey and I experienced such bad withdrawals that I would always go back. The patch takes care of that.

Good luck to you!

I have been smoke free for over a year now. Though it did not keep me from getting pregnant, I found that I could not smoke during pregnancy , it made me sick. I quit cold-turkey and planned on starting again once the baby was born. I didn't and it was the best decision ever!
It's difficult, I still think about smoking and cigarettes everyday! But, the best advice I can give you is this: Don't give in, even for a second. No more of that, 'oh I'll just have one, while I'm out with my friends', it doesn't work. Smoking is a crutch and you DON'T need it! You're much stronger than that! Good Luck and FM me if you want to vent!

I've heard too that it can decrease your fertility, try your best to stop now.

FH stopped Jan. 3, he tried cold turkey & he tried the patch (didn't like it), this time he used
COMMIT, the little lozengers & he swears by them. At first he had the hiccups & the taste got to him but then he got used to the taste & he has been smoke free since then. He now hates the smell and said he has no urge.

He also has a friend that went to a hypnotist & the guy smoked 2-3 packs a day & really didn't think it was going to work (he had a pack hidden in his car), he came out & tour the pack up & never smoked again.

Good luck!

This woman that I ride the train with smoked FOUR packs a day for 40 years. She quit with Zyban which is a prescription drug you can get from your doctor. She told me she didn't even want to quit and only tried it because her kids asked her to, and about two weeks into it, she never wanted to smoke again.

That's true! I was going to suggest that. There is an acupuncture program for smokers who want to quit. It works!

I smoked for 22 years (I'm 35) and I quit by taking Zyban (generic name is Wellbutrin -- much cheaper and insurance will cover it). It took ALL of my physical symptoms away and made it so incredibly easy to quit. And I LOVED smoking, too.

May 2nd is my one-year anniversary of being smoke-free!!!
