NWR: snowboarding and skiing

So.. last year i went for the first time EVER!
and i realized why there weren't that many hispanics on the mountain... it's not something that comes easily to us lol. And i'm very athletic but for the life of me can't do it!!

So now we're going back up on sunday for a few days and i'm sooo scared!!!!

I'm a little better at skiing but still (i just pizza and french fry.. learned that on south park! lol)
and snowboarding is just a mess. Fh wants me to get a helmet cuz last year i fell and hit my head and actually got a cut on it and started bleeding lol.

Any tips? lol I can't even get off the ski lift w/o falling lol

sorry, no tips bc i have never been skiing or snowboarding in my life..

but I am going on a ski trip this weekend too! I am so nervous! A bunch of our friends (like 15 of us) rented this huge house in the poconos for the weekend. I am excited for the weekend bc it will be fun, but I am so nervous to try skiing for the first time!

Hahah i agree with your hispanics on the mountains......i am hispanic and i SUCK so bad at skiing....... i went for a second time last year and fell a million times.....it was actually pretty sad watching these 4 year olds fly pass me.

As for tips i would say take it slow.....actually by the end of the trip i started getting the concept of how to stop so it was making it more enjoyable hahah.....but you'll have fun anyway, i did!!

Wish I could help but I tried the bunny slope twice and then spent the rest of my trip drinking hot chocolate in the lodge!

i have been skiing since i has about 8 years old. i love skiing. even though i have 17 years of experience i stay with the 2 or 3 easy slopes. i don't go crazy down the hill i just enjoy going.

every single person i know who has skiing experience, as soon as they have tried to snowboard they have fallen & broken an arm. & since i am a little clumsy i wont even try. plus my dad has millions of skiis so i don't have to spend rental money. just stick to skiing & have a good time.

ive only tried snowboarding. i was on my butt more than the board. but it was okay i guess.

my only tip - dress WARM! really good gloves! and try not to go when its too foggy. i went on 1 hill and i had no idea when it would end because it was so foggy. uugghhhhhh. one friend even wound up QUITTING and walkin down half the hill. YIKES!

sorry to crash! But I've been on skis since I was 4 and my uncle is a ski instructor/snow patrol. Maybe it would be worth it for you to take a lesson the first day you are there to really learn the proper techniques, then you can spend the rest of the days working on it! I took sooo many lessons when I was little and they are truly helpful.

I LOVE skiing and try to make it up to Mt. Snow in VT every other weekend...so much fun My advice would be to take a lesson...honestly they are great - they help anyone from beginner to advanced. Also...don't try to ski/snowboard any trail more diffucult then you are comfortable with - that would make things scary for you and not fun!

I LOVE SKIING!!! I started when I was 3 years old! I was that little brat kid who would hit ya in the face with snow from my ski, as I passed if you were on the ground... went to school upstate and it was great I went all the time. I unfortunatley havn't gone in a few years but I do miss it...

I agree with the previous post get a lesson 1 lesson can do wonders!

let yourself have fun and don't panic youll only tense up and fall. And honestly I would get a helmet. I have had friends of mine get bad concussions skiing and it will just ruin your trip. I even consider wearing one next time I go.
