NWR: So, I just found out that I can't vote

I called up the Board of Elections bc I never got that green and white card in the mail that tells you your polling place, and they tell me that I'm ineligible to vote because in 2005 I moved out of state and when I moved back to NY I was supposed to re-register to get my voting rights back. I had no idea. I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little dissapointed.

Well if you were gonna vote Obama you're fine anyway since hes going to win NY easily...

If you weren't, well then that stinks.

Next time.

I just had to reregister because I never changed mine when I moved 2 years ago...but I did it back in August so I made the cutoff...

i didn't even realize you were supposed to re-register. That's weird.

Can you register by absentee ballot in the state where you used to live? You should call the board of elections to see if there is an alternate way.

I called the Board of Elections, the only suggestion she gave me was to go to the PO and re-register to vote so I don't miss out on the next election. Technically I never had the right to vote when I lived in Iowa I guess. I moved out of NY right after the elections in 2004. So I voted. When I changed my address I lost my right to vote in NY State. I didn't even know I had to re-register.
