NWR: So sad right now....

Original post by DCSAAB06

Im at work and unfortunately I cant do anything right now and run to see my sick dog who is dying. I just got a call that he has turned for the worse.
He had gotten sick out of nowhere and stoped eating. With that, he has cancer and there is nothing we can do.

My Rocky was 9 years old.

ETA: Rocky is in doggie heaven. Thank you all.......You really all are great ladies.

Deb
I know how you feel bc we put my dog to sleep 3 wks ago (you may have seen my post).
We had her for 16 yrs. BUt its always important to know that you cant let the dog go on suffering. You need to do what is best for them. That was the most comforting thought for me.
Im so sorry you have to go through this. I know its painful

Deb, I'm sooooo sorry. You definitely should not have to work. I truly think jobs should give employees time off for a pet that has died.

I know this poem always helps me:

When an animal dies that has been especially
close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special
friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine,
and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored
to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed
are made whole and strong again, just as we remember
them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing;
they each miss someone very special to them,
who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes
when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group,
flying over the green grass, his legs carrying
him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your
special friend finally meet, you cling together in
joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face;
your hands again caress the beloved head, and you
look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet,
so long gone from your life
but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Deb,

I just read this. i am so sorry that Rocky passed away.

My cat of 20 years died in January after being really sick so I know how hard it is to watch something you love suffer.

I just read this post, and it made me cry and cry. My 10 year old has Lymphoma, and there is little we can do. He was supposed to be my ring bearer at the wedding, but the Vet doesn't think he will make it that long. I feel like I am on death watch, he is my best friend, so I totally understand how sad you must feel, you are right as to not let him suffer, it really was the best thing you could do for him to let him be at peace. OKay I have to stop typing so I can stop crying!

Much love to you at this difficult time

I'm so sorry to hear that. Some people don't realize how close you can get to your pet. I have none, but I have two little ones, and I know to you, the was like your child, or just another family member. So sorry

Awww, Debbie, I am sooo sorry about Rocky. It's such a terribly hard thing to do to make that decision to put a beloved pet to sleep. It's the most humane thing to do, but so very difficult and heart-wrenching. He's up there waiting for you Debbie
