Okay... so my co. changed everything and I got a new manager in Aug 06. She told me I was supposed to have my yearly review and get a raise. She did the review a few months late and said b/c of that my next paycheck will have the raise and it will get prorated. Well, she calls me this morning to tell me she was mistaken and the raise if for my next review in a few months so NO raise and no money getting prorated.
Sooo pissed b/c I expected that money to help pay off some wedding vendors. Ugh!
Sorry for the vent, but I can't stand my new manager. If I wasn't getting married this year and so busy I'd look for another job. I usually love my job and the people I work with.
Maybe you can take it up with HR. A yearly review is just that- yearly. So you have to wait and now it's going to be two years. I would def say something to her. It's not right that people mess with other peoples living. Maybe you should look for a new job anyway and when you find one tell them you are getting married this way they know ahead of time that you will need off.
Also, get it in writing. I would go to her office and tell her that you need something in writing with her signature on it . This way she can't screw you again!

Thanks... she said b/c she saw I got a raise from my last manager who gave it to me 6 mos ago, but he said it was b/c it was in the budget and nothing to do with the yearly.
Better start looking.. just stinks I have no days off b/c of the wedding and HM.

Time to put your tax dollars to work...
If you were told you were getting a raise & they owe you money for it, you can file a complaint with the NY Dept of Labor for unpaid wages. Do you a have a copy of your review? Do you have anything from HR stating your promised raise?
Go here: http://www.labor.state.ny.us/formsdocs/wp/ellsformsandpublications.shtm File the unpaid wages complaint form.
Once you file & your HR dept gets a phone call from their office, I bet your $$$ will show up. If you don't feel comfortable doign that, at least call & find out what your rights are. I wouldn't mention that you are getting married & need the money. I'd keep it simple: 'I was told I was getting a raise & now I am not getting what was promised. It's been ___ months. How do I handle this.'
I did this when my company refused to allow me to take my 2 weeks vacation and they were forced to pay me. Literally, within a week of filing the form, HR was kissing my a$$

That stinks! If I were you I'd go to HR, and actually tell them why you were looking forward to the raise (wedding), and have them verify that you really weren't supposed to get it yet.....

That is so good!
You should probably take it with HR somehow and if you have documentation to that effect, definitely take it out and bring it.
