NWR- something to consider...Grey's anatomy

i know a lot of people here LOVE this show..myself included. but watching last nigths episode, i couldnt help but feel a little disgusted by the way adultery in glamorized...the culmination of dr. mcdremay and meredith- while being very passioante and dramatic- is still a case of a man cheating on his wife, and another woman being a willing partner in the destruction of his family....

it just got me thinking...no wonder so many ppl turn to adultery to 'spice things up' they make it look so great on tv.

Ok, since I am in LOVE with the show and let me stress it is just a show and not reality. I think that is why everyone watches it or any other sitcom for that matter.
I don't think the show is promoting adultery, but what I do think is that sometimes in life you do things you regret and then the outcome is you try & do the right thing in the end.
Obviously what is going on with Grey's is not the way must adultery situations turn out, but I don't see where you would think it is being promoted?

On the show, I do see adults very confused and feelings are getting in the way. Very important line of the show 'You can't help who you fall in love with'

i dont see it as being promoted in a 'do this its great ' way, but its just depicted as being so intense in a way that people who are bored in their current state of life might find appealing. i know its a show, which i also love, but it was just my observation....

ie....in the way they say that 'gangsta rap' (which i cannto stand) glamorizes violence...its just a song wiht words from someone's imagination, but to an impressionable person it can become a model....thats all

I hear ya and I can understand where you are coming from.
Put it this way, when my FH watches it with me all he says is 'How can he do that when his wife is in the same building' and in my head I am thinking, 'Wow this is one hot sex scene'

The whole things disguses me, don't get me wrong, but I just look at it as a good show with good writers

It does bring up interesting questions which lead to good discussions.

We all love the show and the individual characters and writers, but we can also use it as a jump board for different issues.

for example, the quote 'you can't help who you fall in love with.' - does that mean one of us or one of our FH's can simply fall in love with someone else? what would we do if this happened to us or our FH years after our wedding date?

etc

I think it raises good points
