NWR: Sorority Girls!

NWR: Sorority Girls!

I'm a Founding Mother for our Local Sorority (soon to be National - Whooo HOOOO)

Anyway, we started out in 1999 and now have 32 active sisters, 12 alumni, and 4 inactive sisters. What are you ladies doing about inviting Sora's?

I was thinking of sending them invites for just the Church, and only inviting a handful (3 exactly w/their dates) to the reception.

I just invited the women I was friends with from my sorority. It was a much larger sorority though. I think I would be hurt if I just got an invite to the church?...

It was different for me, I graduated college in 1997 and got married 6 years later. I invited the sorority sisters I am still close with and others I have become closer with as an alum (I am still very active, in fact I am a Province Officer). I think I had 8 of them at the wedding. Had I gotten married right out of college, it would have been at least double.

Congrats!!

BTW - what National are you joining?

I am having a similar dilema there are a lot of girls that i still speak to and the list can go on and on. I am inviting 8 girls with dates but anyone else i will let them know the church details. And yes i know 8 sorority sisters is a lot but outside of my those girls i am only inviting 3 friends from childhood so I dont think I am doing too badly with friends.

Great, that's what I'll do. I honestly can't afford to invite more than those three that I'm really really close with. I'd love to have them all there b/c I'm so involved to this day (graduated three years ago.) However, our wedding will be a small one - 120.

We're a local sorority, and once you've started out in 7+ colleges, you have rights to become National. We're at six colleges now, and aiming for more!

heyyy!!! i founded a south asian interest sorority back in 1998--we're now 17 chapters/colonies strong!!

i was having the same dilemma as you---since i was heavily involved in the expansion process, i came to know so many sisters and i didnt know exactly who to invite. i'm inviting my closest sorority sisters, which will probably total about 30. as far as inviting some to the church only...i say its all or nothing. dont invite people to the church that you wouldnt invite to the reception. jmo.

Re: NWR: Sorority Girls!

the FH and I are both greeks, so we have tons of sisters/brothers were are inviting. We will be 25 when we get married, so we are still close with many of them.

I would invite for both parts of your wedding, not just one.

Re: NWR: Sorority Girls!

This is also a tough one for me....I graduated college last May and still talk to many of my sisters. I haven't decided who I am going to invite yet and will decide when it's time to think about sending the invites and who I am still close with at that time. My FI is not greek and he doesn't want our wedding to be a sorority reunion! We'll see how this pans out....

I graduated from college in 1996 and got married last summer so quite some time had passed. I only invited those sisters who I still maintain close friendships with and had some other friends from college (not sisters) there as well.

I graduated two years a go and I am only close with 2 of my sisters so those are the ones that I am inviting.

One of my sorority sisters got married right out of college. Her DH was greek, too. I think they had at least three tables of fraternity/sorority people at the wedding and no one was invited with guest. Our section of the room was just like a college formal.

It's been a looong time since college, but I invited four sorority sisters and two are attending.

All of this sorority talk begs the question...any Sigma Kappas out there?
