NWR: spine specialist

NWR: spine specialist

Has anyone ever been to one? I'm kinda nervous and not sure what to expect.

My doctor referred me to one because physical therapy was not helping my neck injury from my car accident. She had said that the dr might recommend injections, which freaks me out!

If anyone has any experience with this, please let me know!

Have not had this experience but I am sorry that you are going through this! back/neck pain is the worst. I do work in healthcare though with some very well known spine Dr's. Who is the Dr they referred you to?

The shots she is talking about could be a shot of cortisone which reduces inflammation. If that is it, its nothing to be scared of & it will make you feel a lot better!

Thank you! She gave me two choices, Orlin & Cohen which has an office in Bohemia, and South Suffolk Orthopedic Surgery in West Islip.

My FH was in a motorcycle accident last summer and he has had several rounds of spinal injections. His were epidurals, meaning then were injected directly into is spinal column. If this is what you are doing, the procedure is really quick. You get a prescription for one Valium-and pick it up the day before the procedure. You have someone drive you, then at the office you take the pill. They wait until you are nice and anxiety-free and then do the shot. When I took FH, I was surprised at how quick it took! The first one didn't help him, but the second one helped him quite a bit.

Don't be nervous! It was really less of a big deal that we thought it was.

Just make sure to talk about side effects. He had terrible heartburn right after and I kept telling him he was nuts to think it was connected and the Dr. told us that the steroid in the shot can have that effect, lol.

I hav ea bunch of herniated discs and bulging discs from a car accident i was in in April. My doctor referred me to a pain management doctor in Syosset....Dr. Stamatos (he's the head of pain mgmt at LIJ Syosset Hopsital). I got those injections you are talking about--spinal epidurals. Feel free to FM or FB me if you want more information. I know exactly what you are going through!

Give a call and check out Dr. Scott Banks in Huntington. My Dad's a Chiropractor (well he doesn't practice anymore). Scott is the ONLY person he'll refer people to, he might be able to really help you without doing injections, etc.

I had spinal fusion surgery in May I saw Dr. Leone in glove cove. He has a great reputation and is the chief of spinal surgery at Glen Cove hospital which in my research I was told is the best hospital to have spinal surgery outside of Manhattan. Hopefully you won;t need surgery but I saw other doctors who just saw me a means of filling their surgical calendar. Dr. Leone has the experience and reputation where he doesn't have to prove anything and only does surgeries that he feels are necessary. I know I gave alot of info. FM me if you want to know anything else.
