nwr: sprint phones??!!

my sis wants a new cell phone for cmas.

she has sprint, but she doesnt want to renew her plan. so i dont think you can get a discounted phone THROUGH sprint w/o renewing

is that true? what are my options?

if i look online for phones, how do i know what works with sprint?

i dont want to renew the plan..just want the phone. can i do this? how much does sprint normally charge for activiation?

any advice/help is great!!!! im a verizon customer and ive never dealt with sprint b4.

thanks in advance
