NWR: Student Loans

I hate saying those two words...student loans!

Anyway, so now that I graduated in December with my MBA, I have to start paying it back in July. So I have like 5 different loans and I want to consolidate them.

Does anyone recommend an organization that does this?

are they all with the same bank? I had three loans from citibank and consolidated them with the bank for a low interest rate... If they are with different banks, I would call them and find which would would consolidate and what they're interest rates are.

ahh student loans!

They are great and i have never had a problem. I conslidated 2 loans into them.

They allow you to defer payment if you go back to school, lose your job, economic hardship or a bunch of other reasons. You are also entered into a monthly sweepstakes each time you pay ur loans to win i think 5000 towards ur loans.

I just actually spoke to my brother, and he uses them too. He says that they really helped him figure things out and the rates weren't really bad.

I used Sallie Mae also and i hate student loans, all of schooling is on student loans-all 8 years-yay me

I consolidated with Sallie Mae. I hope that helps, I graduated eight years ago and still paying them, ugh.

Ok looks like I have to look into Sallie Mae and maybe another bank just to compare rates.

just to let you know....i just started paying my student loans back in december. I wanted to consolidate them but all the companies were telling me no one is really doing it right now bc of the economy and all the crap going on with the financial companies..

if you find any that will consolidate def let me know!

Did my 4 years at a SURR school in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Called Sallie Mae for my loan forgiveness. The woman sounded like she fell out of her chair laughing!! Apparently the powers that be did pass some legislation for loan forgivness. However, they never passed the part of the bill that provided the funding.

I consolidated with Sallie Mae a few years ago, then all of a sudden I noticed that the bills split and one was from someone else. When I called it was explained like I already had my PhD. Something about un-this or that, vs this or that. Too confusing. Just take it out of my checking account and knock off .25%.

ok this is what i found out after calling like 10 different companies. No one is consolidating FEDERAL loans, however they can consolidate private loans.

The only one that is consolidating federal loans is the Us Dept of Education, I just submitted my application, so hopefully that goes through!

Student loans can be tricky, but I'll tell you what I did. I originally consolidated through Sallie Mae at 7% interest. When I got it down to an amount that I could pay off in 1 year, I transferred all of it over to my credit card that offers 0% for one year on balance transfers. If you think you can pay it off then you may want to consider doing this. BUT, if you cannot pay it off in that time than I do NOT recommend it. Good luck.
