NWR: student loans! vent!

ughhhh i get so depressed when i get calls about my student loans! I finshed school for teaching 2 years ago, and ever since then I have not found a job... therefore, i'm defering my loans. it stresses me out soooooooo bad i can't even explain! I wish there was something i could do about it! I'm afraid when i have to start paying them, i won't be able to afford it... ughhh vent over!!

I totally know the feeling....the amount of students loans i have is enough to buy a house!!!!!
I just started paying them off, but its getting rough.....saving for a wedding and just living....loans suck!

I feel your pain. Make sure you consolidate. I had to consolidate my loans so I could have a lower payment plan. I had 103 k in loans at a rate of 1300/ month for almost 10 years then paid my loan down to 72k and now consolidated its 399/ month for 17 years. Think about consolidating because you can always pay it off sooner when you have the extra money

i feel your pain!!!! i am so angry that the government was willing to help the companies that offer the loans, but did nothing for the people that owe loans! we could stimulate the economy by buying houses, cars, etc if we didn't owe our life in loans

maria-who did you consolidate through? i'm going to owe about 60k when i get done in May for grad school and want to consolidate so it is one payment. Also-if I consolidate does it affect my credit and also i'm a public servent so if I pay my loans every month on time for 10 years the rest is forgiven, do you know if i consolidate if I can still do this? anyone?

i recently paid off one and I have one to go and I graduated 8 years ago from college :(:( its crazy trying to live and pay back loans at the same time.

i owe about $180K in student loans i totally understand what you're going through!

all my loans are through sallie mae and i'm using their Income-Based Repayment Plan. it's working for me so far because it is based on your previous year's W-2s and last year I was in school so I didn't make any 'real' money (i had a PT job and made like $5K the whole year) so my loan payments are $0 and they should be like $1700 per month! you should definitely consider doing this because so far it has been WONDERFUL for me! not eating up any forebearance or deferral time and giving me the money I need to save for the wedding. it's an excellent thing! granted, interest is still accruing, but I don't anticipate ever making 'big' money and the loans are forgiven after 20 or 25 years. works for me!

talking about this make me sad its such a hard burden to carry. I really wish there was more help out there for people who are being subjected to this mordern day slavery lol

crashing...where did you consolidate? i need this so bad...i pay over $800 a month on student loans...

i'm glad i'm not the only one, but i still wish there was something someone could do for us that can't even find a job to pay these loans. I do sub now, but it's not nearly enough to start a life, i would love to get a different degree, but i refuse ot pay any more money to these loan companies or schools!! plus i don't know what to do! I have my masters in education, sucks i can't really do much with it besides teach.
