NWR.. suffolk county apartments?

The fiance and I decided to move into an apartment next summer after we get married for approx. 6 months while we look for something to buy. I've been searching areas like Babylon, Hauppage, and Smithtown. The FH works in NYC so he needs to be near a LIRR station. I've started searching for apartments to rent but soooo many have awful reviews.. I don't know whether or not to believe them! Do any of you girls live in a rented suffolk apartment, or know anyone who does?

Thanks so much!!
