Never went. I dont think kids where I grew up even went to summer camp. I never even knew about it until I started teaching.

Islip. I mean, maybe the kids from the 'rich' part of Islip went, but my parents certainly werent about to pay all kinds of money to send me to camp. Anyway, I liked playing in my pool in the summers w/ all the neighborhood kids. We all stayed home. We didnt even know of camp

Re: NWR: Summer Camps
never went to camps, I always just hang out, watch TV, go swimming or chill at the library during the summers in HS. Then in college, I either worked or took summer classes.

FYI girls are beoches at EVERY camp.
I went to Camp Lokanda in Glen Spey, NY for 7 years - sleepaway. Now that I am a teacher, I know why they smiled so much when they shipped me off on the camp bus.

I went ot CTY. The girls weren't beyotches. Everyone was cool. I have lifelong frineds from CTY. It was one of the best experiences of my life. I was going t go back to RA, but I didn't want to leave FH for 8 weeks when summers were the only time we had together in college.

This was the same where I grew up. I mean we spent the summer in our pool, playing sports in the park, making clubs, going to the beach with friends' parents, having lemonade stands, and just being kids.
I never had the urge to even want to go to camp.
I didn't realize how big it was until I started teaching.
PS--I grew up in Bayside.

me either....I grew up in Brooklyn, so unless the Fresh Air fund gave us a call, I wasn't going anywhere
I am the oldest of five kids...my parents would NEVER have been able to afford that...I started working to basically support myself (and my family half the time) when I was 14!
