NWR: Sunburn help!

NWR: Sunburn help!

SO I was a complete idiot and went out on the boat yesterday and didn't put sunblock on I KNOW it was so dumb and I don't know what I was thinking.

Now I am SO red like a lobster. THe thing is it doesn't really hurt (I know very strange) but it's just SO RED.

Do you ladies have any remedies that will work in making this sunburn FADE? I really don't want to be red like this tomorrow, we are going out on the boat again which is certainly going to be a disaster! I will be sure to load up on sunblock tomorrow!!!

Thanks!!!!!

There's not much to do once you're already suburned. Keep putting aloe on it (I put my aloe in the fridge so its nice and cold when I put it on!). Also, drink a TON of water because sunburn dehydrates you. And try to keep covered as much as possible tomorrow, once your sunburned its so easy to make it even worse!

There really isn't anything to make it fade..

But, take it from a sunburn expert and pharmacy tech, the Banana Boat after sun lotion with aloe and Vitamin E is amazing.

You need to make sure you keep your skin hydrated so it will heal more quickly. Now that you burned the top layer of skin off, your skin can't retain moisture.

If it starts to hurt, keep applyign the lotion frequently and take Motrin.

And use sunblock!!!! OMG!

Good luck!

ETA< I agree with Chanwich about the water and staying covered up, both very good tips as well

I use to sware by Aloe until a couple of weeks ago when DH got burnt really bad. Initally his didn't hurt either, but within a day he was in so much pain. He said the worst pain was when he would get out of the shower. The shower itself was fine but then after he would scream & it was super itchy. We tried a whole bunch of things, after sun cream, anti itch cream, aloe vera (not at the same time obviously) & then only thing that worked was taking Benardyl. Good Luck

OMG i saw like 4 sunburns in the ER yesterday....not even sun posioning even!!! I had to seriously just discharge the person and say...you have a sunburn...not a deadly rash (like on woman thought she had!).

Basically there is nothing that will made it fade...and just cause it don't hurt now doesn't mean it wont be rather painful tomorrow and for the next 2 days or so. Stay VERY hydrated (gatoraide or pedialyte is best), and don't be surprised if you get a mild fever and a little nausea. Tylenol or Motrin are fine to take.

Although Aloe helps and is very soothing, it wont make it 'heal' any faster...thats all up to how quickly your body is able to repair its self.

And of course, SUNSCREEEEEEN!

Re: NWR: Sunburn help!

I just had sun poisoning last weekend, silly me didn't put on enough sunblock on my fair Irish skin. I thought I was fine when I left the beach, but as soon as we got home and I started to cook us dinner, I almost fainted and was very nauseous. I was in so much pain, I went to CVS and bought an aloe gel with lidocaine, it took a few minutes to work, but it did eventually help when I went to sleep. I didn't use it much because it just hurt too much to touch, so I also bought an aloe spray that helped a little....I just had to apply it very frequently.

Stay hydrated, and take some aspirin.
