NWR: support and motivation

NWR: support and motivation

Okay ladies today I am in need of both. Long story short I have been on a health kick and yes let's say the word 'diet' for the past 3 weeks. Eating healthy, going to gym, the whole 9. I dropped about 7 pounds and couldn't be happier. Now this morning, my 'aunt flow' came to visit...DAMN IT! I hate this time of the month and the scale was not my friend....2 pounds gained. Now I hope it's all from bloating and feeling crappy...but it killed my spirit and now am feeling defeated......

any recs?
any thoughts?

Hey RH Twin!

Don't feel defeated - 'Aunt Flow' ALWAYS screws with my weight. Dont worry, just drink lots of water and keep up with the dieting and the gym - you'll get through it! Also, try to stay away from salty foods - I find that adds to my bloating. Don't give up!!! In a few days your weight should go back down again....

You can do it... I am in the same boat as you and I wasn't as strict this week. I hate it and am regretting every bite of it. Aunt Flo can really F with you... she has with me this month. Just stay strong and focused and you will feel 1000 times better for beating her at her own game next week when you step on that scale!

YOU CAN DO IT

Aunt Flow is no indication of real weight. we all get a bit bloated and feel as if we fell off the diet wagon. dont be discouraged! keep doing what ur doing!

Re: NWR: support and motivation

I follow WW and used to weigh in weekly. I'm now maintaining and have Lifetime membership, so by WW standards I only have to officially weigh in at their center once a month. That being said, I do weigh myself at the gym once a week - same time and day each week - just to keep myself in check. And I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS gain between a pound to two and a half pounds around my Aunt Flo's arrival. It used to be a shocker, but now I expect it so I make it a point to never ever schedule my WW monthly weigh-in around that time. (Don't want to be over my WW goal weight, then I gotta pay for that month if I'm more than two pounds over goal! )

It's completely normal to 'gain' a pound or two during the week of Aunt Flo - some girls even 'gain' more. I use quotes there because it's not really a gain...just water weight. It happens to ALL of us! Seriously, if you look at my WW books throughout my membership, it's a pattern of loss, loss, loss, GAIN, loss, loss, loss, GAIN. And it always is a gain during that ******* week.

I'd say to do some light exercise - Pilates helps me tremendously during that week, it alleviates the cramping. Drink lots of water, avoid alcohol and if you're a caffiene addict like me, drink it only in the morning. Avoid foods high in sodium: canned soups, microwave popcorn, frozen meals like Lean Cuisines and Smart Ones. Eat lots of fruit and veggies; avoid anything that you know has a tendency to make you bloat.

You'll be fine! Don't let this throw you off track...because you DIDN'T fall off track, Aunt Flo just arrived and decided to challenge you. She's a real b!tch, ain't she?! LOL

Relax!!! During this time, don't weigh yourself until after the end of the visit. And pound back the water likes it your job!!!!

ITA with all the above. Aunt Flow ***** and always makes me feel like a bloated beached whale. You are the heaviest especially at the beginning and even before when you start retaining water and getting bloated. You'll see and feel the difference once she leaves! The worst thing about it is the way it makes me feel, yuck!

I have been with Weight Watchers for over 3 years now and I ALWAYS gain weight when that b!tch comes around

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT, base your progress on your weight during this time. It's so inaccurate it's ridiculous.

Just keep doing what you're doing - eating healthy and exercising - and you'll see true results next week.

You can't go by the time of the month. I think every woman gains weight then. I have mine and have been eating everything thats not nailed down to the floor. I'll get over it and stop the bad habits in a few days.
