NWR - Surgery

Hi girls,

so friday i got my impacted wisdom teeth extracted. its monday and i still feel horrible. my face is so swollen and painful. everything is sore and no matter how any painkillers i've been taking i still feel like shiiiit......how long is this misery going to last? im supposed to go back to work wed but i am thinking about postponing it and going back thursday. i look and feel like a monster!

when does the swelling start to go down?

luckily i can eat - and imagine i gained 5 lbs because all ive been able to get down is pasta and pudding! usually people lose weight from surgery!! ERRRRRRRR!!!

The swelling should start to go down by now. Call your doctor and see what he or she says.

I remember when my friend had hers out she was puffy cheeked for a week but by the 6th day it was very slightly swelled, I was only able to tell because I saw her a few days before. I think by tomorrow you'll be looking (and feeling) better

hi, sorry you are feeling so icky! this happened to me too when i had my wisdom teeth out. i think i was out of work for 3 or 4 days and my face was HUGE. i actually felt like it would never go back to normal (but of course it does). i'd give it another day or so and see if the swelling goes down. if not, maybe call your dentist in case there is an infection or something. it will get better, but i would say stay home from work if you can until the swelling is down. feel better!!

My swelling or pain didn't start til a few days after the surgery. It is normal. It took me about a week to recover. I was taking vicodin so that helped me sleep at night with the pain and during the day also. Towards the end of the week it should be getting better. At least for me it was like that. But everyone is different. By the time it was time for me to get the stitches out I was fine.

i feel your pain i had mouth surgery on friday too and i am still in pain and swollen.....

ice it 3X a day for 15-30 minutes depending on the swelling

take a strong pain killer....alive works great if they didnt give you Vicodin or codine or something like that! if they did that the vicodin and then an hour later ( if you are staying in the house!!) take an ibprofin or advil or aleve ( if you are still hurting)

Dont run around!!!! stay off your feet as much as you can...when you r up and about your blood presure rises and will cause irritation!

hope that helps!! i feel your pian!! fell better soon

aww sweetie i totally feel your pain.. i had a miserable experience.. i had all 4 taken out at once and 3 were impacted... everyone i talked to said oh youll be back in 2 days.. i was out of commission for WEEKS!!! i had a reaction to the anesthia (sp?) so i was puking for days.. then i popped a few of the stiches.. looked like a chipmonk cuz of the swelling... they put too much novicane in the joint where you mouth opens and closes so i had lock jaw.. i was eating baby food for close to 3 weeks. none of the pain pills worked.. but they ended up giving me a RX for Liquid childrens Advil it was the only thing that worked.. and i was taking it for a long time!!!! Try the over the counter first if it works.. get a rx its cheaper!!! (didnt mean to scare you.. but it could be a while if you had a situation like mine) Feel better!! and get some childrens advil!!! the best part is it kicks in with in 15 min. so its like instant relief feel better!
