I think that the snow in and of itself is not enough to call for a snow day. However, I drove home on a sheet of ice that had to be at least an inch thick from Brooklyn to the Queens/Nassau Border. If the temperature drops below zero, which it will, then the ice wont melt by tomorrow. It is terribly unsafe to drive. If I were a parent, I would not put my kid on a school bus. It took me three and half hours to get home today.

Lets start calling those parents.. A little guilt never hurt.!

I am a speech teacher so if we have school but parents keep children home I have time to work on my portfolio!! Woohoo

Can you say 'HE** NO!!' Bloomberg would have to see the polar ice caps come down before declaring a snow day!!

Goldi1010, It took me 3hrs also from Brooklyn-Nassau! I was ready to start screaming in my car. It was awful!

. Hempstead Parks - Pool / Recreation Prgms
St. Anthony's Religious Ed -
Woodward Mental Health Center

All three are listed as delayed starts on new12.com. Maybe other schools will follow?

HOWEVER BOCES does not participate in delayed starts so I am SOL!

I'd take the delayed opening!

There is no way! Especially in my district. We have yet to have one this year. A delay would be nice but very unlikely.

No way...especially NYC teachers!! Maybe if it had started snowing later on and just kept snowing...but unless there is some minor miracle..I don't think so

I did not have a snow day yet this year!!! We had three delayed openings. I would love the day off being that it is parent/teacher conferences tomorrow night!! I really do not want to deal with that! I as well would not mind to sleep two extra hours!!
