Girls who are looking for teaching jobs (and finished with their degree), where are you working in the mean time? Are you just subbing, or do you have another job?

Re: NWR: Teachers
Before I got a full time teaching job, I had two jobs: I worked as a substitute for Nassau BOCES and worked part time for the Town of Hempstead (Parks and Recreation).
I was able to get my full time job by starting out as a leave replacement. If you can find any leaves- go for it!! It gets you in the school. The same goes for subbing.

Re: NWR: Teachers
I def. plan on subbing, I just can't see myself quitting my full time job now (I'm a nanny) where I have full benefits and make really good money, to sub. It stinks because thats really the only way in, but with the wedding coming I can't really afford to quit my job
Its also discouraging when all you read in the paper is about teachers getting laid off.

If thats the case, I would wait until after the wedding. Try for a full time teaching job in September. if you cant get that- keep your current full time job. Alot of districts will hire subs during the year.

I subbed. Now I work at a jail (as a teacher), but I'm trying to get into a public school (hours and pay are both better).
