I need some help ladies....

I was asked to perform a demo (guidance related) lesson for a school next week. My question is, approximately how long should it be and what exactly are they looking for when they ask for a demo lesson (like what would I do, or act as if I am giving the lesson to kids).

Thanks. This is all pretty new to me. (they didn't teach this in grad school. ugh! )

hi, happened to catch this---a few of those groups I sent you were done as guidance lessons. When I have done guidance lessons they have usually been around 30 minutes (have done diversity, anger mgmt, anti-bullying, character ed, etc.) GL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would call the prinicpal or whoever you've been in contact with regarding your application process. A demo. lesson is a REAL lesson in front of rela students. in this case, as it's the end of June, it will probably be students in summer session.

I would ask:
1. How long they want it to be
2. How many students
3. the age group/developmental level of the students
4. What, if any, particular area/curriculum would lthey like to see or teacher skill would they like focused? etc. etc.

All of the above will narrow down your options and give you a good focus for your lesson. If they are vague in the above answers, it is difficult to plan. GOOD LUCK! most demos are about 30-45 minutes.
