Re: NWR-Teachers:Middle school v. High School
This is not my personal expereince but I get to hear about it a lot.
My FMIL is a high school teacher she started out a JH school teacher. She always tell me how much she hated teaching JH school b/c those are the worst ages. She said it was so bad that she almost quit teaching. She loves teaching High School. She;s always talking about how great her students are. She is always helping them with college apps, etc.
I think JH school are the tough years. All that hormonal stuff going on.
Hope that helps.

I'm not a teacher..but I do have a 15 year old and I can only IMAGINE how they are. I think if I were a teacher, I'd want high school..because they are a 'little' more mature..but if I could have it my way...I'd love K-2nd grade.

I teach both now. The older kids are so concerned about their grades, they fight for every little point. They don't enjoy learning. They have bigger problems (drinking, drugs, sex, peer pressure). The younger kids are more innocent, but like to annoy each other at times- touching, poking, making fun of each other, etc. The MS kids still enjoy learning. I can do songs and games with them and they appreciate it.

Re: NWR-Teachers:Middle school v. High School
I have taughts both. I started off teaching HS, then had to transfer to the MS and now I am back at the HS. I have to say, I love teaching HS! It is so much better than MS. MS has tons of emotions, attitudes, hormones and etc. Also, in HS the kids have more responsibility because they want to graduate. In MS, the kids tend to not care. But that's my opinon. If you want any more info FM me.

Re: NWR-Teachers:Middle school v. High School
my school is a 7-12 so i have had the opportunity to teach both but since my first year (i am now in my fifth there) i teach usually 9-12...and i think the older kids are much better...yes they can be 'too cool' at times but for my personality i work much better with 'little adults'...i just couldnt handle little ones...but they are cute and eager to please which is awesome...however junior high cafe duty is terrible...i am spending this semester there and i cant take it

FH did student teaching in MS and HS -
he teaches full time in HS- he hated MS, he said the kids were too hormonal and immature. he really hates teaching 9th grade too, he would rather have 11th and 12th

Re: NWR-Teachers:Middle school v. High School
I did student teaching in a HS and right now I teach in Middle School. I had really great experiences in both seetings with the kids. Last year I had sixth grade and they were a little immature. But I have the same kids again this year and its amazing to see how they look up to you. They are very emotional at times and always into drama but I really enjoy working with them. It really depends on your personal preference - some poeple would rather shoot themselves in the eyeball than deal with MS students
