FH and I are looking for a good mattress since we're both suffering from back pains...(its clearly time to kiss our mattress goodbye, although its only about 3 years old (Sleepy's Posturpedic-$ucks)). So we've been watching these commercials about this Tempur-pedic mattress...what do you ladies think...is it real or bogus??? I ordered the DVD Intro video...

Re: NWR-Tempur-Pedic Mattress
I have the Bob's Furniture version, which is half the price.
At first, I didn't like it because we got 'firm' but now I love it.
I'm definitely into it!

They're expensive, but good. We stayed at a hotel in Newport 1 1/2 years ago that had tempur-pedic mattresses. It was very comfortable. DH loves them and still talks about how great he slept on them. We'll probably buy one at some point. I think Brookstone has models in the store. You can always see how they feel there.

The Hotel Rivington in the East Village has Tempurpedic Mattresses for all their beds. It was the best night sleep ever. You do get really warm though...

I see that commerical all the time but I don't see how it would be that great for your back if it conforms to you. I like a harder mattress. I wish I could get the sleep number bed, but that's ultra-expensive.

I heard about that, that you get really warm, and if you sweat through the night, someone mentioned it's not too pleasant.

FH really wants one. Our mattress is only a year old but he's been having trouble sleeping on it and wants to get a good one.

I was wondering the same thing...FH says that your entire body weight is distributed evenly, therefore, there's no impact on your back or something to that effect...anyway, I see that this must be a real deal...maybe I'll try it out at home first.

We got the firm one and it really feels firm. If you try to bounce on it, it doesn't 'give' like a regular mattress. You just kinda sink in a little.
It's not like a marshmallow and I'll also say... that when you go try it at the store...those are all broken in. Mine is still verrrrry firm.
I haven't had any problems with the heat thing....but it may be because my FH refuses to teeach me how to turn on the thermostat and I am always freezing!

Re: NWR-Tempur-Pedic Mattress
I had one at a luxury hotel we recently stayed at and Unfortunately we hated it! It has not give no bounce if you were to like jump into it it would feel like you dove into concrete. I have back problems too and it was just too hard for me hth
