NWR: Terrible Day! (long)

NWR: Terrible Day! (long)

Today FH and I went to my friends moms' house to see my friends kids (one of which is my god daughter).

I have written on here before about how my friend is immature and a pain in the ***. I bite my tongue a LOT with her, in an effort to prevent any drama so I maintain a good relationship with my god daughter. It's one of those things where we were close in HS, but we went in totally different directions as adults. I went to college, and she smoked a lot of pot, basically (and still does, near the kids) and got pregnant. But I firmly believe in being there for the kid regardless.

Anyway, I was so excited that FH and I were gonna see the kids because he rarely gets to see them. FH is not fond of my friend at ALL. He thinks her and her husband are idiots, but he acts civil and friendly because he knows how much the relationship with my god daughter means to me.

My friends mom has 3 dogs. One of the dogs is a little beast, and has bitten me before. When I got there my friend said don't worry the dog is locked in another room.

At one point, we were sitting outside, and the sliding glass doors to the living room had been wide open for a while, so I went inside to get my phone after cautiously scanning the perimeter of the room. My friend jokingly said 'Don't worry it's safe' and i laughed and started to turn around to go back outside when her brother said 'No it's not!' and the dog comes running up to me and bit my leg twice. I freaked, dropped my cell phone on the cement, and ran outside while they got the dog.

The skin is definitely broken, was bleeding, and FH was p i s s e d! The thing that really pissed him off, is how no one took any responsibility for it. No one said sorry. All they said was that he has all his shots so I wouldn't worry. (My good friend is a p.a. and she said how dogs have a lot of bacteria in their mouths so its really important to see a DR)

My friend handed me a bottle of peroxide, and heard me ask FH what the google search 'how to care for a dog bite' said.

When she heard FH tell me what it said, and I asked him if I should go to the doctor, she started laughing and told me I was over reacting and being ridiculous. This is when FH got really mad. But the type of person he is, he didn't say anything to them.

I wanted to say EFF YOU, but I know shes just an immature, arrogant person who will NEVER admit wrong, or take responsibility for anything.

The kicker is that a half hour later, we were sitting outside, and THE DOG COMES OUTSIDE! FH is like 'W T F get this dog away from Jill!' and my friend gets him and responds 'Sorry grandma let him out without knowing'.

After we left, FH blew a gasket. Yelling about how if he had a dog, and there was a chance the dog could bite someone, that dog would be locked in a cage while they were there, and EVERYONE would know not to let it out. He was saying how accidents happen, but the fact that my friend demeaned my reaction and no one even apologized made him INSANE. And my FH is a VERY calm man.

I know FH is 100% right, but I got really upset because I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place with this situation. Normally I am a VERY outspoken person, but if I don't bite my tongue in this situation, it's going to create drama and to me its not worth risking the relationship with my god daughter.

FH understands why I bite my tongue, but he is still livid about the situation and i know he wished I would have told her off.

Anyway, I've been upset the whole night, not with FH, he has been taking really good care of me, just about the situation. And now tomorrow I have to go to the doctor to get this checked out.

Here is a pic I took after about an hour. Now it's swollen and black and blue also :(

OMG! Jill I am soooo sorry this happened to you. The top one is the weirdest dog bite I have ever seen. It looks more like a scratch. Does he only have it out for you? I would be so pissed. How can they be so idiotic and to not even apologize. I hope your god daughter one day knows the trouble you go through just to spend time with her.

You should definitely get it checked out by a doctor. Who knows where that dog has been.

The G2G would have been a safer place for you to be.

Call your doctor and ask him to be put on antibiotics. It is very easy to get an infection from a dog bite. Make sure you watch it closely.

I think that you should make plans to see your goddaughter out of the house. It could have been a lot worse. I have been bitten by a dog in my face and I can tell you from experience that it is scary. I would also ask your friend where she brings the dog so you can make sure it has it's rabies shot.

OMG I'm so sorry! First of all, if either of my dogs ever bit someone, I don't think my parents would have even thought of keeping them. It becomes a huge liability at that point. Your friend should be thankful that she knows you and you won't sue her, because if that dog bit some random on the street, she'd have a huge lawsuit on her hands.

that is awful and I would not go back there. I would take the child out for a play date or lunch. Who needs the headache???

OMG! Sorry this happened! I agree you NEED to see a doctor and get that cleaned correctly. You will probably be give a prescription for antibiotics in the pill form and an antibiotic cream. I wouldn't go back to that house again. Maybe you can ask your friend if you can take the kids to a park or something the next time you want to see them? I would think she'd understand.

Vicious dogs.. unfortunately.. need to either be locked up in a cage (or somewhere that they cannot come in contact at all with humans, children, etc) or ... put down.

My brother adopted a full grown dog that had some kind of problems...(we didn't know at the time that he was a dog that would bite people..) and he did.. not viciously. Until one day, it tried to viciously attack me, but was luckily on a chain and my mom grabbed him just in time, so all he did was rip my pants and scratch my leg (that close). Within 24 hours.. he was put down.

It is no joke when you have an animal who bites and you should stay away from that house completely because they are too callow to realize the potential consequences. Granted, you sound like your relationship with your god daughter is important, but you'll just have to see her away from the house. That's JMO

That is insane. ITA with the other girls about the doctor. There are so many problems with your friend's reaction. First, a dog that bites should never be around company, but also, do they have this dog around children? That is really unsafe and irresponsible.

Also, the fact that she didn't apologize is just terrible.

I am so sorry you had such a crummy day.

So sorry you went through this Jill. I agree you should try and see your Goddaughter away from the house/dog. It's unbelievable your friend didn't take responsibility for it.

Thanks girls!

I just got back from the dr. and he thinks it should be fine. Got antibiotics and cream just like you all said!

Also, I am SO glad i decided not to ask this friend to be a bridesmaid. If she thinks I'm making a big deal about teeth marks in my leg that won't stop bleeding, imagine what she'd say about dresses!
