We went to see a home today that I had written off weeks ago, and I continued to write it off as we sat in the driveway. I was annoyed it had an ugly vinyl fake-stone exterior, it wasn't a walkable area, that the neighbors' looked creepy, everything.
I LOVED IT once we got inside! Fireplace, redone kitchen, finished basement with a huge unfinished side - big enough for a craft room and a tool/work area, master bedroom with 13 foot ceiling & balcony, huge 2 other bedrooms, 2 full baths, laundryroom on 2nd floor, omg I dieeeeee. Sorry for the crazy rave that no one cares about but I'm so excited!
******EDIT:
Ok, so we heard back about our next step. Our realtor and his coworker are going back to look at the house, take notes, etc, and then they are also going to get the info about the house & property from the city to give us a bigger picture. He told FH that they'll work on putting together a range of prices we could begin our offers at. But, here's the weird thing - he has spoken to the seller's rep 3 times now, setting up the viewing, she called him to ask how we liked it, and the third time was to call her and say we wanted to go to the next step.
NOW she claims, oh, didn't you know there was a bid on the house? They bid, we countered, but haven't heard from them in a few days.
I'm really suspicious about this because no one said anything before...and everyone who has experience, don't buyers only have 48 hours to give their next offer? or is that sellers?
I'm still really excited...if there is a bid we can see if we can match it, and if there isn't, then we might have a house!

I feel like they say there is a bid..offer so you feel like you need to hurry on the house.
That's how I feel - they had 3 separate phone convos on 3 separate days, so I think they're just trying to push us to move quickly. It's annoying because we would like to move fast - but we have to wait for all the info about the property, etc.

Re: NWR: Think we found our house! UPDATE
Also, FH's dad is a very (overprotective and a wee bit obnoxious) Yonkers cop. He called last night to say he ran the house info and found stuff about the house/owner that wasn't shown or at least isn't accurate on the listings. They say they've owned the house since 2004 but he's been there at least since 1997 when Yonkers reports went digital - I wonder why there's so much misrepresentation? Esp. because they list this a 4 bed house and it's technically only 3.

I would look on zillow.com; it will have some transaction history on the house. You can always go to the town building department and get the plans (it could take a week though). It was the same way with my house; oh there is a cash offer, there is this, there is that. Don't let anyone rush you. If it falls through it was meant to be. Also, make a list of what you are willing to pay for the house and decide if it is worth losing for 5,000 dollars (just a number out of thin air). If it falls through there are so many houses on the market right now.

That's what I meant when I said it seems they're representing themselves as being there only since 2004 - that's the only transaction history available on zillow, trulia, realtor.com, etc. Only when we got the paperwork today did we find out they've had it since 1996. I do my own due diligence. We've also already made our lists, and neither one of us is willing to go above a certain point. I have no problem walking away from a house that they want too much for because I value my bank account and future security more than I would making us broke on a whim. I've seen too many dumb decisions on House Hunters for that lol!

Surprisingly, I'm still really low stress! It's nice to at least have gone beyond just seeing houses that leave me frustrated/disappointed :)
