i honeslty do not know what i want to do or be. i graduated from hofstra with a degree in finance. i have had 4 jobs in the finance field, and didnt like any of them, so i've moved on to computers, but its not me either, more tolerable, but too boring. i think i need to be doing something more hands on or more creative. i thought about teaching, but i dont see myself doing it. im thinking about something in fashion maybe, assistant buyer, visual stylist, event planning, i dont know?????
any advice??? i just took and aptitude test online (i know not to trust it), but look at my results!!!

Go for it. It might be your true calling. You know there's nothin wrong with changing your career. The reason it took me so long to get to college in the first place was because I didnt know what i wanted to do, and what I felt I could do for the next 30 yrs...and then it finally came one day. So you never know!!!

omg! that's awesome!!! i totally think you should go for it!
as a sidenote, I'm in the midst of going through a career change as we speak. I'm in finance currently but back in school, taking prereqs for an accelerated BSN program. i can't wait to become a nurse! Just wanted to offer some encouragement - I completely know what it's like to switch directions and start from scratch! life is short, but not that short. i think we should all be spending it doing something we're passionate about!

Re: NWR: Thinking about a career change
I am in the same boat I hate my job and have been going to school to change my job. I am applying to a school next year for ultrasound technician. I wish I knew this way back when. I have to wait a year because I have to take 3 pre-recs before I enter the program. It is going to be hard but I am really excited.
I hope you find the career you are most happy with.

it's not easy to figure out what you want to spend your life doing. i think it takes some intense self reflection and it takes a strong person to admit they might not have 'gotten it right' the first couple of times, but there's NOTHING wrong with that. and in the end, you've dabbled in a lot more than many people even dreamed of learning about!

Re: NWR: Thinking about a career change
I'm an Event Planner and yes its fun BUT there are a lot of things that go along with the job that people just don't think about like.... stress, heavy traveling, working a good amount of weekends and late nights. I plan anywhere from 2-4 events per month from soup to nuts and its sooooo much work. Looking at your results it seems you would be good in this field but definitely do research on a few jobs before you switch!

Re: NWR: Thinking about a career change
It's ok to want to make this decision in this point of your life. I went to school for Fashion, did a few internships and swore I was going to be a buyer or a stylist. WRONG! I went to work for a giant Insurance company and I LOVE it. Try out a few things and see what you like!

what does age have to do with career (unless it involves physical exertion and your like 50?) its better to do it now. life is about figuring things out and nothing is set in stone
