I purchased Peoples Dec 31st issue. One section in the magazine was titled 'Friends and Family share their memories of the legendary personalities who passed ths year TRIBUTES'
They put pictures and quotes about several people who passed this year (Tom Synder, Pavaratti)
One peron who they had in this section was Chris Benoit. For those who dont remember Chris was the Pro Wrestler who killed himself after murdering is wife and son.
Im sorry - im sure there are people who miss this man.. and im sure that he did some good things in his life... but to put a tribute in the magazine about a person who committed suicide after killing his wife and son - is in my opinion distasteful and wrong . (note: there was no mention of what he did in the magazine)
what are your feelings on this?

ya thats kinda weird! Its one thing if he just killed himself I guess, but he took out two other people. Obviously he had issues and was literally sick, but he murdered two innocent people. If he hadn't killed himself, he would be a murderer and would not be mentioned in a tribute in any way.

I don't think there should be 'tributes' to murderers!

i think its an overall very sad situation. obviously, there was something severely wrong with him (mentally) due to drugs ... not that i am making an excuse for murder. its just a VERY unfortunate situation. i have mental illness in my family (my mom's mom - my nana) and it breaks my heart.
sigh
ETS also keep in mind - many kids (and adults) idolized him ... he was an athlete at one point and a lot of people looked up to him. I do agree that what he did was wrong, it destroyed lives and that isnt excusable ... its just unfortunate

I agree that its very sad that he may have suffered from mental illness.. but he is still a murderer and to put him in a tribute just doesnt seem right especially to his wifes family

i agree totally - i just think its easier to sympathize when you can relate to a mental illness.

Oh ok.. I thought you were saying that because of that it was okay.
I think that even if you dont know someone with a mental illness most people can sympathize with that.. i do

Gina I agree in that he should not be honored in a tribute. FH works for the company and had worked with him on several occassions. When it happened FH said that he did not seem the type to do something like this. Obviously something was going on with him that he wasn't sharing. The WWE dedicated a whole show to him when they 1st found him & his family dead. Once the WWE found out that he was responsible for all of the deaths they pulled all his merchandise off the sites and didn't mention anything of tribute to him.

yeah... they also put Anna Nicole in there too.. i dont really think she deserves a tribute either.. its better than putting a murderer in!

i totally agree although the only thing i can think of was that it was due to drugs and an 'altered' state of mind
had he been in his right frame of mind and not on steroids, he probably would not have done this since they said it was 'roid rage'
but i agree, he murdered 2 innocent people

yeah - it really is sad. When you think if he didnt take those things.. would he have done it?
i was reading that His father wants his sons wife's family to be compensate for their loss.. i think that is really nice... however, aparently Chris had other children from a previous marriage - so who knows

i remember the tribute. FH and I are very big WWE fans and when we first heard the news, I actually cried. When the details emerged of what actually took place - my heart broke again.
i'm actually torn about PEOPLE's tribute. as someone who was a fan at one point - he was a huge star in the WWE and had a big impact on the business and their fans. but on the other hand he committed a horrible crime and shouldnt be put on a pedestal for that. even as a fan, if I was in that meeting of picking who's who --- i wouldnt have included him.
