NWR - This weekend!

A quick question for all you brides. My parents are driving down from Rochester to spend a long weekend with FH and I since my birthday is Wednesday. I was hoping to take them out to Tanger for some shopping and then go to the Aquarium.

Has anyone ever been there? Is it all out doors or are there exhibits inside?

I'm not from LI, so I have no clue about these things! Any help is appreciated!

TIA!

Anyone? I really have no idea what to do with them for 5 days and I figured this would kill a day, maybe two.

First of all, Tanger is a strip mall that is outside. The aquarium has exhibits and shows outside, I went in December and they were still running but I'm not sure about now. 'Nostressbride' had her wedding there so she might know more about the place itself. HTH

I live in Riverhead so let me give you some tips... Tanger is great for shopping except if it's cold. You also want to go either when the mall opens at 10am or after 5pm. The parking lot gets sooo crazy that it's difficult to find spots. The only good thing is that there is a trolley that has frequent stops and takes between the two malls(Tanger 1 & Tanger 2).

The aquarium is really nice. There is a lot to do. There's also plenty of outdoor activities that do run through winter so bundle up. They have a little cafe but it's not worth it to eat there. A burger is like $7.00 (and I mean just the burger!!!)There's a great little restaurant next door called Jerry and the Mermaid. The aquarium itself is on the small side so it definately will not be a whole day event.

If you're looking for an all day thing to do out east you could always go wine tasting up on Sound Ave. There are a ton of vineyards.

Hope this helps a little and I hope you have a great weekend!!!

Edited b/c I cant type worth a @#$%!!

Hey there,

As you know I'm also from Rochester and the last time my parents visited I took them on a drive around Jones Beach. Even though it was cold, and we didn't get out of the car, I think they enjoyed seeing the area and smelling the ocean!

Maybe you would want to go to the Cheesecake factory for lunch or dinner ..it's yummy and you could walk around the Source Mall mall while you're there.

maybe you would want to go into the city for a day?

Have a wonderful time visitng with your parents!

Re: NWR - This weekend!

We did Fire Island, Jones Beach during their last visits, so they could walk around, and the city is def out by vote of them. My parents are in their late 60s, early 70s (I was the mistake child and my brothers are 11 years older). I like the idea of the vineyards, though! Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!!
