NWR- Thyroid Conditions

Hey girlies. Hope you are having a wonderful Valentine's Day.

I was wondering if any of you have any type of Thyroid Disorder? If so, do you take any medications? I am asking because I have had Thyroid disease for about four years now. And recently, my Dr. switched my meds and I noticed I have been losing A LOT of hair. I called my Dr. just before to see if they can fit me in for an appointment ASAP so we can figure out why this is happening. Do any of you have this problem? I know this is a weird topic to post on a wedding board but this is driving me insane and I wanted to see if anyone has this.

Thanks girlies!

One of my BMs was diagnosed with Hashimotos Thyroditis and she just started taking something for it so we are not sure of the side effects yet.

08 Crashing,

I had thyroid cancer and my thyroid was taken out so I'm on synthroid, I noticed a bit of shedding but not large amounts. I would definately call your dr. I'm going to see my endocrinologist tomorrow. If you have a question you want me to ask her FM me.

Thanks Peppy

I got an appointment for Monday at 1. Doctor noticed my TsH is in the normal range but slightly lower than usual. Hopefully we'll figure this out and I won't be bald when I get married!

i have hypo and i was on synthriod and then i stop it due to side affects . when you see your dr ask him/her is you can take Bioton 300mcg. it is a b- complex that will help the hair growth and stop the hair loss, also ask about the shampoo also.

Yea, unfortunatley Synthroid has WAY too many side effects. I called up my Brother. He is a Chiropractor. I asked about the hair loss. He said it's also from Low Carb dieting and funny thing is, he mentioned Biotin also. He said it is mainly for Low Carb dieters and it takes care of the nutrients for skin and hair health. So, I went to Target today and got some Biotin and I am going to take this daily along with vitamins. So, I guess the hair loss could be a combo of the Thyroid condition and the Low Carb dieting.

yes he is right because I work for a gastric bypass surgery center and the patients after surgery are allowed to take in between 6g of carbs and 6g sugar and they get the same thing. So we tell them to take biotin 300mcg everyday and there is also the shampoo that help it is called natural bioton shampoo and the RD here said that she think they have a conditioner as well. Did you loss alot of weight to fast?

I have to look out for the shampoo! I did lose weight- I wouldn't say fast. I went from a size 4 to a 16 when I started to have thyroid problems. I was put on medication back in 03/04, by 2005- I lost weight. I went down to a size 6. Now, I am a 2. My thyroid levels balanced out finally but now I am borderline overactive which causes you to lose weight.
