ok i know this might get some people heated and i am sorry but i have to ask because it drives me nuts.
why are you expected to tip at starbucks & DD's ?
i asked this the other day at work and was told that because they are doing a service for you, well so is wendy, tacobell, burger king, and etc and we dont tip them.
the reason i ask is bc i went to dd to get a coffee and the lady gave me a mean face bc i didnt tip her. and i am surely not cheap i just dont understand why should i tip them if i dont tip from other similar store, plus they are getting paid an hourly pay, not working on tips
PS : sorry if i offended anyone

I don't tip there either, I am not tipping someone for making me a coffee. that's their JOB , they get paid to make coffee. you don't see a tip cup out at a deli, pizza place ect and they are providing a service, why is it ok at DnD or starbucks?
i wondered the same thing and the thing is when you dont tip themyou get a nasty face, my co worker told me i was cheap for not tipping at DD
Its not a matter of cheap IMO or trying to be nice. I worked at a DnD when i was younger, and when i accepted that job, I accepted the hourly wage and the cranky people , and there was no such thing as a tip jar . Thats just want came the the job. same as the supermarket I worked at, i was treated like c r a p
Just like I accept myl ow salary as a social worker and get criminals who have spit in my face . It comes with the territory , and I don't expect to get tipped for it
I am sure you would feel better with a tip though! I understand your point. But then are people who are waiters and waitress sopposed to earn their $4.60 an hour wage,, and accept their salary with no tips?
I might have felt better with a tip, true ! Waiters and waitresses should totally get tipped( i was a waitress as well ) and i am actually an overtipper if the service is good, but their job entails much more then someone who works at DnD IMO and tipping waiters is a common practice. I think what annoys me is the expecting of a tip , and then making a face when you don't get one
