NWR: Touro College

hi, i just had a question for anyone who might be attending Touro in Bayshore for the masters in education grades 1-6 and special ed.

I am planning to start my first semester in about 2 weeks and I am unsure if I should register for one online class or 2 (1 online and 1 actual sunday class). i have to go Friday and complete my registration. These are my issues:

1) Don't like to drive on parkway(big baby i know) if I am alone in the car. Its getting on the short ramps that freaks me out. Once i am on i'm fine. SS parkway is not my friend.

2) Took 2 years off from bachelor's degree and never took an online class before and I hear there is more work. I don't want to be too overwhelmed.

3) I am starting my 2nd year as a teaching assistant at a middle school and will also be working my part time job afterwards each day until 5pm or so. If i take two classes will I be able to get my work done?

4) FH and I still live at our respective homes and with so many people in the house it feels like a circus sometimes. FH and I would love to move out to apt but need to save money. We eventually want to move out of state in a few years so buying a place is not the best idea for us. we will have to rent but probably won't start seriously looking until after the new year.

5) I will have to put the tuition on my cc for now and FH will help me pay half. If I do one class its not that bad but if I do 2 (need at least 6 credits to apply) I am able to apply for financial aid (loans-as I always got screwed before) but it will take a while to get reimbursed.

6) AND WE STILL HAVE TO PLAN OUR WEDDING!!!!!!

*I feel like one class is really nothing but I should ease into it especially if I have never done an online class before. i think one will be ok but I am so far behind its not even funny anymore. If I do 2 i don't want to feel overwhelmed and not be able to do my work. I have always been a great student but I just worry too much and doubt myself...

PLEASE HELP!!!!! ANY TIPS FROM ANY CURRENT STUDENTS??????

I'm not in grad school but in law school and my advice would be to take the 6 credits. You can apply for financial aid and as long as they send it in for processing you can probably just pay late, eat the late fee and they will just accept the loan as payment since they're in charge of processing it and stuff once you apply for it. That's always the way its worked for me anyway.

As for the classes, I have taken lots of online classes throughout college, I worked a full-time job and then scheduled my classes at night, so I did about 4 physical classes and 1 online class a semester for a few semesters. I think they're great, it gets annoying that you have to be seen participating and stuff by writing in chats and stuff (if your prof. does that) but you can take your time a little more and put more thought into 'discussions', etc... and you have more time in general on everything (assignments, tests, etc.) so I personally am a big fan of online classes and think it should be easier than you think. Plus, even though it might seem like more work, it almost never takes more time that it does to travel, sit through class and then have outside homework to do in between classes.

Good luck with whatever you do!
