NWR: Tree! EDIT w/ Pics

FH and I need to get a tree - the past two years we've bought the fake trees and it worked fine, but now I keep seeing all these beautiful real trees - but neither of us has ever had one. Is it a pain in the butt to clean up? Do they smell up the house like pine?

EDIT: We went with a fake tree and got one at an awesome deal at Big Lots! Here it is - we're proud of our little tree hah

As long as you get one that looks fresh, water it every day, and sweep (or vacuum) the fallen needles once a day- you should be good!

Yes it will! I love that smell! When we have a tree, every time I smell the pine I smile because I remember its Christmas time!

Yes it is a PITA to clean up, and yes it will make the house smell like Pine LOL. FH loves real trees though so I usually let him do it.

I think you might have just helped me confirm the reasons I don't want a real tree lol.

If you've never had one before, just be careful. I'm super allergic to them and some people get really sick if they have a real tree - might want to hang out in someone's house that has a real one for a few hours until you invest in your own lol

Ohhh that's a good point. I'm allergic to certain kinds of trees (I forget which ones). I don't think I'm going to risk getting a real tree - the fake ones will do the job!

When I used to work at Frank's Nursery and Crafts I bought the real trees. They are so beautiful!!!!!! They smell nice but you have to put them in this special liquid that keeps them fresh. I would definitely get one.

I get a real tree every year. Yes theyre messy. Wait til you take it down. Needles everywhere! But theres something about a real tree w the smell etc that makes it special...and you dont have to store it! Lol

so far our tree has been great

we payed $30 to FHs church and we got a 7 foot frasier fur. it is perfect and if you water it every day you will be fine.

that and we cant afford heat so its nice and chilly in our house and it doesnt dry anything out

the smell is the best part!

but once it dries out the pines fall all over and when you need to take it out of the house, its pine needles everywhere!

yea - it's a pain to clean up but oh so worth it! We just got our tree today and it's SO beautiful... our living room smells so christmas-y!!!

Thanks ladies! The whole smelling like pine part made me get a fake tree lol plus I'm a cheapo, and found a 6 ft tree for $25 at big lots. Pics included above

I am def NOT a fan of real trees...I hate the mess, and they can be dangerous with the lights and stuff! I get a wreath for the door that is real so if I want the piney smell I sniff that.LOL I love my fake tree!!!
