The Renaissance is a great hotel, good pick! It is in walking distance to the mall in case you are looking to go out to eat at some point and to see the waterfire!

I am jealous you will be in Providence this weekend though! I always love going back!

Ohhh, glad to hear that! Definately want to see the Waterfire. Are there any restaurants that you would recommend?!

I LOVE RHODE ISLAND! It's what I like to call the 'baby State' We'll be moving there for babies hehehe... have so much fun!

I don't know what kind of food you like but Waterplace restaurant is good, it over looks waterfire.
A new one that opened up is Luxe Burger, if you like burgers.
For Italian, Mediterrano, Cassarinos or Andinos on Federal Hill but really any restaurant there is good!
And Thayer street (which is by Brown) has Paragon & Shanghai and a bunch of others.
If you are looking for a pub Union Station Brewery & Trinity are good.
The mall has, Joe's, Fire & Ice, Cheesecake, Uno's.

Honestly I could go on all day so I am just going to stop! I really think I should just go with you and be your tour guide.

I love Newport. I went to college in Boston so it was a quick and easy trip from there. I actually haven't been there in years and would love to go back.

A couple of recommendations for you.

Providence - I've never done it myself, but I've heard how great WaterFire is and it's a must.

Newport - you HAVE to go to Atlantic Beach Club, ABC for short. It's a restaurant and event space, people have weddings there. But I've done it in the afternoon, when it's more casual, sitting in the back ,by the water, and drinking and eating peel-and-eat shrimp.

Also, as I know others have mentioned, take a tour of the Cliff Walk, the mansions. If you have a nice day, it's beautiful and you'll get great pics of the water.

Gah, now I totally miss it.

All these raves about this place has me wanting to go there.
