NWR: Unemployment

NWR: Unemployment

Does anyone know the guidelines? I was employed by my last company for 2 months, and they let me go because 'I was not catching on fast enough', which was BS, but a whole different story. I spoke with unemployment today, and they told me they go back 18 months prior to when you file the claim. This does not sound right to me, because that would mean that the company I worked for prior to the one that layed me off would be paying the benefit...

Anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

Re: NWR: Unemployment

Not sure if I can be of help but I just filed three weeks ago because I was laid off from my job for 'lack of work.' When I spoke to them they wanted to know what employers I had in the previous 18 months. Since I'm in touch with my boss he had received paperwork from nys dept of labor so they do get in touch with the most current employer.

I'm not sure of the guidelines but I don't believe you can collect unemployment if you worked at a company for only 2 months. Check out the website, unemployment , they should have guidelines on there. Probably can't hurt to file a claim. If it's denied, at least you tried.
Good luck!

I'm going back about 5 years, but any of your previous employers can call you back to work & offer you a position since they receive the papers.

beware: if you do not accept the offer, you will most likely VOID your unemployment.
