NWR: Upset
A little background: Last year, on September 1, I woke up at 3am and my bedroom was spinning all around me. I stumbled to the bathroom and was sick as a dog, and went to lay back down in bed and it was just spinning and spinning. I woke up my parents and we actually went to the ER. They put me on an IV of anti-nauseous meds, and took me for a cat scan, but that came back clear. They gave me an Rx for Meclizine and sent me home. I followed up w/ my regular doc, who then sent me to an ENT. The ENT did a ton of tests and everything was fine. Meanwhile, I was still having these spells of dizziness. Finally, I went to a Neurologist. She heard my symptoms and diagnosed me in 2 seconds: I had a virus called Vestibular Neuritis aka Labrynthitis. It comes from the inner ear (so why the ENT doc could not diagnose this really pissed me off) and it generally occurs around September/October and lasts for THREE months!!! She said there's nothing that can be done for it really. Xanax actually works better than the Meclizine, so she said to take that when I felt dizzy. By mid- December I was finally feeling 100% and not having anymore dizzy spells.
Now, fast forward to 3:20am yesterday morning. Woke up with the same thing! Popped a Xanax right away and fell back to sleep. When I woke up around 9, I actually felt a lot better, and was able to have a normal day yesterday. This morning, it woke me up at 5:15am! Again, I popped a Xanax and now I am at work but I really don't feel better at all. I am just so upset b/c if this is going to now happen to me EVERY September I am going to have a stroke! I would rather have a cold everyday for the rest of my life than have this dizziness. I don't even know what to do. I don't see a point in going to a doctor b/c the Neurologist already told me there's nothing to be done. UCK
Sorry for the vent ladies, I'm just really upset about this. Thanks for reading!![]()
