Is anyone else doing valentines day on a super tight budget? What are you getting/doing for FH?

NWR - Valentines day - Long Island Weddings
We don't exchange usually exchange big gifts for Valentine's day. The past few years I have made a special dinner and got FH a card and something cute. I usually get roses, champagne and chocolates. This year we are taking off from work and going to get our marriage license and because it is on a Friday we will go out for dinner. This is a holiday for the girls

I think since we're two women, Valentine's Day winds up being another Christmas and we normally go all out as in defenitely blowing tons of money on gifts and going out. This year I started telling FW from November no gifts for Valentines, but now I keep seeing things she would like and I feel horrible. I was just looking up Valentine's Day Goodies to make for the day. Found a few things on Pinterest I'm going to try. I feel bad not buying her a little something though :(

We decided to keep all holidays pretty low key since we got engaged. We're trying to save as much as possible. Were just gonna go to dinner at our favorite local restaurant and maybe go out for some drinks after. I got him a cute card, but no fancy gifts :)

Keeping it low key this year. I told FH all I wanted really was a box or 2 of chocolate of my favorite candy.
For him he always says he wants a cornhole table so I found a vendor on etsy that has tabletop ones that I would have to put together and I can stain and decorate with his favorite sport teams decals. Originally I was going to buy one already completely done but I though this is more thoughtful as I created it for him.
We'll probably just go out to dinner that night as well.

We made a reservation last night for a French restaurant with a really good prix fixe ($55/pp for 4 courses!). I also suggested to him that we don't exchange gifts this year to save money but I’m not sure if he will abide by that.. lol

Us!! We usually go see a Broadway play and go out to dinner - none of that this year! Between buying all new furniture/paint for our new place, rent and paying for a wedding there's not much room in the budget for anything.
We're going to hang out at the apartmemt, cook dinner together (possibly order in) and watch movies. I got him a V-Day/Wedding gift that I don't want to wait until the wedding to give him I ordered him map cufflinks. One of the cufflinks has a map of Maui which is where we got engaged and the other is a map of Forest Hills which is where our first place is. I absolutely love how they came out!! I can't wait to give them to him!

FH and I adopted a puppy 2 weeks ago so that was our combined present to each other. FH has to work that night so we might just do dinner another night and he always gets me flowers. I'll get him a nice card and candy!

We are keeping it super low key. No presents. We are going to hang out at home, and we each are in charge of getting a few food items. I am planning on turning it into a picnic in our living room with candles lit everywhere, if I can get home before him to set everything up!

Re: NWR - Valentines day
We usually have a $25ish budget for Valentine's Day (on top of going out to dinner) because our dating anniversary is two weeks after that. Usually for our anniversary we treat it like a mini Christmas, lol. But this anniversary we are booking our honeymoon flights. That's the big gift

We usually get each other a little something. last year I went over the top for fh cause since he got me an engagement ring I kind of felt I wanted to do something really romantic. So I blind folded him and told him we were going somewhere over night. I booked a romantic get away at the east wind. We had a spa day with couples massages, got dressed up and had dinner, we stayed for the lavish breakfast the next day and spend the day doing winery tastings since we were out there. It was the best valentine's day. This year since we are a few months away from the wedding and saving. It is just dinner and a movie for a date night. i did get him something cause he spilled when we were in target that he got me something. So I got him a t-shirt and one of his favorite colognes he was out of.
