NWR VENT

NWR VENT

Ok, I feel so badly for FH. I totally see why he never wants to hang out with my friends.

Back story - I had been dating the best friend of a friend's BF. We broke up and two weeks later, I met and started dating FH. Yes, it was quick, but the ex and I didn't date THAT long and I honestly spent more time fighting with him than doing anything else. The first time I brought FH (then BF) to a party at my BFF (now MOH) house, people were just not nice to him. They didn't talk to him or even try to engage him in anything. FH spent most of the night looking miserable. When we were on our way home that night, he looked at me and said 'your friends hate me.' I've never wanted to cry more in my life - I felt so badly.

I don't know what their deal was - if it was because my ex was a friend or they just didn't think FH was going to be around for long or what. There's still no excuse for treating him the way they did.

I THOUGHT everyone was coming around - since OBVIOUSLY he's not going anywhere. Well today we went to a party at MOH's house and he literally was sitting there by himself. He got up and went into the kitchen, so I followed him and he was so angry/upset that he was a little sweaty. I asked what was up and he like went off (not on me) about how they won't even talk to him and they don't bother with him. It's so messed up! We ended up leaving because I can't stay there and NOT say something to the guys (MOH's husband and a few others - all of whom I've known for years). I just don't get it. FH is the sweetest guy and he treats me well - you figure that would be all that mattered (especially since the guy they saw me with for YEARS was verbally abusive), but no, they treat him like crap. I don't want to bring it up to MOH because I don't want to upset her, but it's getting to the point that FH doesn't want to go to parties at her house. And in all honesty, I can't say that I blame him.

Oh no!! I'm sorry that you are dealing with this Jess. Maybe you should talk to your MOH about it. It won't get better unless you address it. And you guys shouldn't ignore it, especially after what happened tonight.

Aww, that's terrible. Honestly though, your fiance' isn't going anywhere and your best friend & her husband aren't going anywhere. I'd speak to her and your other friends and find out what the deal is. They may not even realize that they are treating him that way, but the sooner you bring it to their attention, the sooner (hopefully) hurt feelings can be mended. You don't want to have tension for the rest of your life between your husband and your friends.... so I'd definitely talk to them.

I spoke to her after the 'your friends hate me' incident. It's not her or any of the girls, but honestly, what guy wants to sit in a room full of women . I love her husband dearly, but he's not the most socially competent person. He's very smart, but can come across not so nice at times. I just feel like MOH has enough on her plate (3 boys under 8 and preggers), and I know she'll say something to her husband and it will change the next time he sees him but then go back. Like FH says, it's like there's a clique that they won't let him in on.

FH's friends welcomed me with open arms and have never been anything but awesome to me - it just sucks that he doesn't have that with my friends, ya know?

That is really frustrating. Sorry you have to deal with that. It doesn't sound like anyone is being particularly cruel, more like everyone is just kind of stuck in their ways. I know you're just venting and this might be a long shot - but what if you planned more get togethers with just your MOH and her husband? (or any of the other couples in this clique) This way maybe the guys might bond one-on-one while you girls are chatting it up. Then it may be a little more comfortable for him at the next party? Good luck with this situation.

I've tried setting up hang outs but something always 'comes up'.

I'm sorry Jess! I don't understand why they are treating FH so poorly! These girls are supposed to be your friends and support you no matter what--but esp if he's good to you!

Aww that is terrible! This is the man that u are marrying! He shouldnt be treated that way. I would def have a talk with your MOH and find out what the prob is. Good luck.

That sucks! I would definitely find out what's going on... my FH can joke around with the girls no prob (sometimes too well ) lol but the only guy we have a prob with is our friend's husband and that's because he's totally anti social and basically a jerk. We never see him though and he doesn't care for us either.
It sounds like everyone needs to do a little work to get along. Guys aren't interested in what a bunch of girls have to talk about but maybe everyone needs to work to keep the convos fun for everyone? I don't know, it does suck when things turn out that way though, it really bums me out I don't see my friend that much because of her husband

I had a feeling you were going to say something along those lines. Looks like they'll have to get over it or you'll be spending a lot more time with FH's friends.
