Ok so currently I have T-mobile..but for some reason it doesnt work where FH is working right now (upstate zipcode 12446)..so we need to cancel our service (pay $400 ) and start up a new phone line. We have heard that verizon is good with service and works pratically anywhere...for those of you with Verizon can you give ur opinion does it work in areas where you might not normally get service? TIA

Re: NWR- Verizon
Yes.
My parents live in the middle of bumble fck new mexico. There are a lot of dead areas in the desert between where I am , Albuquerque, and them...bfe.
I get a signal almost the whole way. Other carriers, no.
Also, I feel like I never have dropped calls and good reception.
So a place like NY should definitely be fab.
They are pricier by a couple of dollars, but I think worth it. And if you and FH both have verizon, its free to call each other.
I should also say I've had nextel, and t mobile. I prefer verizon.

Yea, I dont mind it tho. I might go with amp'd mobile, they use the verizon network and their prices are reasonable..my bro using them but I just didnt know if it would work upstate...even so, if we go throught verizonwireless we might get a family share plan

my Verizon phone works down in the tunnels in Penn Station...now that impressed me...however where I live in Hamptons Bays...just inside our house is a dead zone...may be all the trees or something...but once i go outside it works...go figure...FH has Verizon & so do alot of friends...love it!

my sister and all her family have verizon
i've had it for about 2 yrs, and FH just switched over this year. it's great....amazing coverage...and quite frankly if you know a lot of verizon people....all IN network calling is free. i love it! i can call my sister daily, talk for hours and it's included!

Re: NWR- Verizon
so far so good, me and FH are going to join plans so that will save us like 60 bucks a month.
well to make the long story short - last week i went to use my phone and couldnt dial out... i could recieve calls but that was it.. i called and they said i didnt pay for september and they said that they text me to tell me and sent me a letter... i never recieved either !!! they were so rude.. i thought i was up to date...so they suspended my phone... i never have signal in my apartment at all...and it was getting annoying.. i was paying way to much almost 150 a month.. so i said F you - and switched to cingular...

Re: NWR- Verizon
I love it, and honestly, the cost isn't THAT bad!
We pay $69.99 plus taxes - this covers BOTH of our phones, a huge amount of minutes, and then we get a 19% discount because FH is a teacher.
Verizon offers a lot of discounts - civil service workers, teachers, etc. Just call customer service and ask!
Its the only service that works in my house (i live in a valley/dip-like area). When my friends with cingular, t-mobile, nextel, etc come to my house, they leave their phones in the car, because they're useless in here.
eta: IMO, one of the best features of Verizon is that every 22 months, they give you the option to renew your contract and they give you a $100 credit towards a new phone. I have NEVER paid to purchase a cell phone!
