So, FH and I were thinking about going to a vineyard for our anniversary-I know there are a lot in LI, but since I'm from Queens, I have no idea about them. Anyone know of a good one? TIA

I went a few weeks ago for a friends bday.. we went to 4. We all agreed that our fav out of the ones we went to was Duck Walk, bc they gave you the most variety of wines in the tastings and had the most.

North Fork or South? My FH and I enjoy Pindar....the wine is good, there is a big bar and nice views. They also have live entertainment. We also like Martha Clara and Puglisi's...Let me know which fork and I will tell you which route to take.

Re: NWR-Vineyards
I love going to the wineries and go often bc I am close. In fact I was there this past weekend and FH and I are going on the 27th for our 1 year to the wedding day!! Here's my best advice-
Stay on the North Fork there is barely any on the South
Baiting Hollow Farm is good and the first one you will hit on Sound Avenue, then Palmer, then you will see Martha Clara (personally not a huge fan, they have a petting zoo and stuff and it's kinda family fun day a lot there). Dileberto doesn't have the greatest wines but their tasting room makes you feel like you are in an Italian Piazza very cool.
Then on Main Rd (25) Peconic bay is AWESOME!! By far my favorite and you can taste a LOT, plus they have a real nice outside area to lounge in, Lenz is good too, but you only taste a few and if I remember corectly they are pricey, Pindar is a little further East which is nice too... Oh and Raphael is GORGEOUS!! IMO they are a little stuck up but the place is worth checking out. Also if you go on a weekend try and get to the Tasting Room. It is not a vineyard but literally just a tasting room where they have a lot of the lesser known wines bc the vineyards are to small to have their own tasting rooms. So often they have great wines that are hard to find.
Ummm... that's all I can think of now, if you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

Re: NWR-Vineyards
Peconic Bay is my favorite North Fork one and Wolffer is my favorite South Fork one.
I would go to Jamesport Vineyards, Duck Walk, Martha Clara, Macari, Pelligrini and Pindar. Chances are you are going to stop at the first few you see and stay there.. Sound Avenue tends to back up. Either way, you won't be disappointed. The atmosphere is great, just buy bottles when you like it and bring your own corkscrew. Some places will not let you open the bottle after buying.....but what they dont know wont hurt!!!

Re: NWR-Vineyards
North Fork has a lot more vineyards then the South Fork...the south fork is more hamptons and villages to walk around. If you love wine and good food, definitely the north fork. Martha Clara is nice and has beautiful grounds. I think Pindar is the best though and Rapheals is right across the street.
I would stay in the village of Greenport. They have the most night life and events going on. Claudios is an amazing restaurant. Also the Lobster Pot in Riverhead is very good.

I like Baiting Hollow Vineyard and Roanoke a lot. Roanoke also carried Wolffer Estate wines -- so you get a good variety. I typically just start at the beginning of sound avenue and stop at everyone i can get to on the way. Hence, I am wasted when I leave. LOL. BUt each one is so different and has something to offer. One of my faves is Old Field. It's a bit less known and all the way in southhold, but the wine is really good and the owners are so sweet. You wont think much of it when you drive up and they serve the wine in plastic cups -- but i swear it's a great experience.
I love pindar and puglis's but I'm bias about puglis's since that's my cousins vineyard but we went to palmer and martha clara last weekend and they were pretty nice as well.

Re: NWR-Vineyards
I highly recommend Pugliese Vineyards.
If you like white wine you have to try their pinot grigio and reisling.
