Is there anyone on here who uses this? I'm thinking of enrolling, but I wanted some feedback first.

Re: NWR: VPI Pet Insurance
i have it for my dog - she is high risk for health problems since she is a shar pei - they can have lots of ailments when i first enrolled her as a pup i paid the monthly premium but once i moved out my mom started paying it (at the time we enrolled 2 puppies my dog and my moms puppy, both are shar peis, so we got a deal and it was cheaper to keep them on the same policy) so now b/c my mom pays for the insurance, she keeps the returns we get on claims so i dont see how much i get back from vet visits anymore....but overall i think its been worth having - when she was a pup she had eye surgery that we got quite a lot of money back on....its good if you have a pet that you are frequently taking to the vet KWIM? but there are some illnesses and such that are not covered

ollie has VPI. So far we've gotten back more than the premium so I guess it has paid off. However, the return $$ is not very much but I want to keep her enrolled just in case, god forbid, she needs it for a surgery or something

you have to pay the full amount the vet charges, then you submit the claim and they'll give you back whatever they say they cover. Whatever I've been given back has not been very much at all.

Are there any other insurances? Other than VPI?

I know there are a few others, but VPI is the oldest and biggest.

Re: NWR: VPI Pet Insurance
You guys just brought all the memories of my thesis back. My thesis was related to Pet Insurance and I spent my last semester researching everything related to Pet insurance..VPI by far is the largest one.
Good luck! They seem to have a pretty extensive coverage list from what I remember..but they might have exclusions for any birth-defects or pre-exsisting conditions...no sure about that though...I wrote my thesis 2.5 years ago.

Yes they are worth it and they have a pretty solid business plan and reputation. Their pricing seemed reasonable as well.

dh and I will have to think it over. We're attempting to save for a house and every penny counts!
