BE CAREFUL! Some of the less expensive houses are actually in Wyandanch, which is not a good area!

Do some research on the school districts if you are buying. I was looking in W. Babylon but actually found a house I could afford in the Village of Babylon. Also a co-worker of mine is selling a co-op in WB with schools of BV. FM me if you'd like more info...

Deer Park Ave. There are co-ops in West babylong called fishermans Wharf that are pretty nice and not that expensive. They are WB schoole district, the HS is right across the street.

lol. I was just about to write the same thing. Wyandanch is a horrible crime infested community, and unfortunately it neighbors West Babylon, be very careful. But, I have to say once you drive under the over path on Straight Path, You pretty much instantly know that you have left Wyandanch wayyyyy behind.

Re: NWR-- W. Babylon
Hi! we live in west babylon now in an apartment and we don't really like it lol. it seems like there's always something going on near us (w/ cops, crime, etc...). i hate how there are no sidewalks, but i know that's part of suffolk county. we plan on buying a house away from w. babylon after we're married lol.

Re: NWR-- W. Babylon
FH lives in west babylon, always have.
As Alyssa (iheartmoogle) said you have to be careful of some areas.
My friends father has been trying to sell his house for several years now... its a mother daughter. its west babylon schools, but babylon village tax.
then there are areas north (you'll know them if its a numbered street) that are borderline wyandanch... (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, you just want to watch the school district), there's also parts of west babylon that crosses with north babylon and you'll go to NBHS (thats where I went).
then there's south of sunrise which is a little more $$...
I know FIL's friend lives in a co-op and has been trying to sell for years, but she's on an end unit, and her window overlooks the on ramp to rt109.
if you're interested, my brother is selling his house in north babylon, if you FM me I'll give you the info.

I rented in W Babylon for 10 years and loved it. I was right by Bergen Point golf club and never had any issues at all.

Re: NWR-- W. Babylon
I have lived in WB my whole life. Mom grew up in WB and my grandparents literally live around the block.
Personally, I feel once you start getting into the high numbered streets (anything north of Herzel) is where you really start to run into Wyandanch. It's pretty much broken out by the main roads. We live just north of Sunrise, but once you cross over Southern State, you notice a HUGE difference. I don't know any area that is considered Wyandanch School south of the Southern. Also, be careful how close you are to Straight Path. I tend to notice more of the crime happening in homes that boarder Straight Path.
Unfortunately, I only went to WB Schools up until HS, at which point I went to catholic school. But I think the elementary schools and jr. high were both nice school districts.
All in all, I think the closer you can get to the village the better :)

there are coops and condos off of DPA (N. Babylon). I owned one in the Fairfield complex of Coops (Edmunton Drive). if you go to the Fairfield realty site, there should be some listings id imagine. There is a pool, its pet friendly, and plenty of park. Super close to Babylon Village shops. 1 and 2 bedroom options.
My friends are selling a coop in Farmingdale (i posted on BHB earlier). Its walkable to the farmingdale train station and you could easy hop on a major road to get to Shirley. HTH.
