NWR - Waxing(not your face)

So I have been toying with getting a bikini wax for years! I am petrified! But I think that would be the best idea for the honeymoon. I always get razor burn, so this will help avoid that. Can anyone recommend where to go? Also, any expereinces bad or good??

Take a tylenol before.

Paula at Cloud Nine Salon on Little Neck Parkway, right off of Jericho ... She is very good and very funny - she makes an embarrasing experience not so bad!

I have extreemly thick hair and when I shave you can still see the little hairs under my skin. I am also wondering what may be the best choice. If I wax, will it last long at all? Also, I heard you can get ingrown hairs if you wax. Is that true?

I have been a dedicated waxer for years and its great. I have progressed from a bikini wax to the whole deal! It used to hurt a little in the beginning but now I don't even notice. I have an awesome girl but she's here in California.

I know alot of places in NYC. Are you looking in LI or here?
You have to try the full brazilian. It's amazing. Like Deb said, take a tylenol before, and DON'T do it the week before your period - way more painful. The week after is ideal.

It hurts the first few times, but is so worth it!

Exactly how much does it hurt? Is 1 Tylenol sufficient or do I need to break into my stash of Vicodin?

I have waxed for years. If you don't mind spending the money, the Estee Lauder Spa in Manhasset does a very nice job. My regular place is the Garden City Skin Care Center on 7th St in Garden City. They are good too.

Tylenol is enough. I don't find it all that painful, to be honest.

It hurts but the pain ends pretty quickly. It hurts while it happens and then dulls in a few seconds.

Oooh, the thing about your period is true. I did not think of it but bunny is sos right -- whenever I am a little more ouchy than usual she asks where are you in your cycle and it is always the week before -- those hormones!

Not to start a TMI (too much info) thread, but would someone mind explaining the exact process to me--like do you wear your regular underwear, do you not wear any? I've never done it before and I'm the kind of girl who likes to know exactly what she's getting into (the naked airbrush tanning incident aside ). Thanks!!!

You can wear underwear of any sort -- best is to wear something cut fairly high to give access. Otherwise, you can take off -- they have seen it ALL before, I promise.
Now about this naked airbrush tanning incident.....

Thanks! Long story short--I went to get an airbrush tan and my friend told me we'd get to wear disposable undies. However, when I got there, the woman said, 'My darling, I need you naked' in her fancy European accent. At one point, it felt like I was in a bad women's prison movie because she told me to put my hands against the wall and spread my legs. Upside: the tan looked really good

Well, I am glad I started such a popular topic of conversation. I really want to do it, I am just so frightened. Not really too embarassed, but I just don't do to well with pain.

-Hey Jenny, maybe we should go together since we are both so unexperienced in this area. Maybe we could all go - a little field trip of sorts

As sick as it is, we could really do this. I would. A rather odd GTG, but it could be done.
