nwr: weekend vacation

can anyone suggest somewhere nice for a long weekend? I get my birthday off at work (one of the few perks) and because its on a tuesday, I was thinking of taking the monday as well so the FH and I could go away for a bit. Any suggestions would be great, preferably somewhere we could just drive to, not opposed to leaving friday after work either, its what we usually do. Worst case, we may beg his mom to let us use her condo in ocean city.TIF

FH and I have gone to the following places:

Vermont
Mystic, CT
Cape Cod
Boston
New Hampshire
DC
Eastern long island (stayed at the east wind)

....they're all driving distances and you can easily find things to do in all those places, or just find places to relax at for a couple of days. Have fun

I absolutely loved Cape Cod. I stayed at the Windjammer in West Yarmouth. It was not fancy, but on a beautiful stretch of beach. Another hotel was the Baysider, which was on the bay and had a nice pool. We took the ferry to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard for day trips. I preferred Martha's Vineyard. Atlantic City is also a good option, but if you don't get discounts, the hotels can be very pricey. If you go and gamble once, and sign up for a card in a casino, you will get tons of promotions in the mail for free or really cheap rooms on weeknights.

I love the cape also. It's so quaint and beautiful. I definitely recommend Chatham.
