NWR: weird question

ok im back to work for the week until i leave for my honeymoon.

here's kinda strange question. since I work with seniors, many have passed away and it is just a fact that me and my staff have to deal with. whenever someone passes away, I have to send an email to all the staff informing them. how would you word this email? i have no idea what to day besides 'unfortunately, so and so passed awway yesterday'. TIA

Re: NWR: weird question

Here's one I received when my professor (and mentor) passed away:

Dear Colleagues,

It is with deep sadness that I must tell you that Professor Arthur C___ has died.

This is a tragic and shocking loss for our community. Arthur was a gifted scholar and teacher. I will send out further information and details on arrangements as they become available.

Sincerely,
____

You can do something like:

'It is with great sadness that I must inform you that (NAME) passed away (ON DATE). (NAME) was a (DESCRIBE POSITION) with (YOUR COMPANY'S NAME) and will be greatly missed by all of us.'

(If the family is welcoming colleagues to the services, then you can add the information at the bottom of the memo as well)

Maybe something like...

It is with deep sorrow (or great sadness) I am sending this to inform you that XXXX has passed on.

And then if you usually send out information about services or anything include:

Services will be held at such and such place on such and such date/time.

Please join me in sending thoughts and parayers to the family during this difficult time.
