with FH and there were good and bad things. Good: location, HUGE, really cool landlord, tons of closets Bad: the girl that lived there before (for 8 years) smoked and had a cat. The apt. was smelly and the walls were yellow from the smoke. me and FH walked out sneezing like crazy!! The owners are painting and having the carpets cleaned but I dunno if that cat dander will ever go away.
hmmmm...what to do. Anyone know of any big 1 bedroom apartments in Nassau that are available??

Re: NWR: went to see an apartment
If you want to live in a complex, the Fairhaven Complex in Jericho/Hicksville is affordable. We moved in in January and love it. FM me if you want specifics!

Craigslist!!! We actaully saw a few places that were listed there. Where in Nassau are you looking? Do you want a complex or part of a house?

yeah its an annoying process but can take alot of time, some do get lucky and find something quickly but usually takes time.
If you really like the apartment then you can fix it up if youre willing to...When we bought my apartment it was completely different and had to put alot of work into it, bc the people before us messed it up.
But if you see it as a problem and dont want to put the work into it then just keep looking, you'll eventually find something

Yeah that's where found it. Craigslist is great! I guess that we'll just keep looking. We're looking to stay on the south shore/Nassau County, hopefully Lynbrook, RVC, Merrick, Bellmore, Wantagh, Seaford area. We don't mind a complex, but there are not too many in Nassau and we found them to be overpriced.

I'm thinking that the carpets need to be ripped up to really get rid of all the cat fur and dander. I'm going to call the owner tomorrow and tell them that we liked the place and see if they would consider replacing the carpets.

You're right - most complex are WAY too pricey. BUT, on the same note, living in someone's house can get old VERY quickly. Like I said, I'm in Fairhaven Apts. in Jericho. They always have rent specials. We have a HUGE 1 bedroom that was discounted to $1275 this January. That's just a bit more than the houses I lived in. We're also seconds from the parkways/expressways. I love it!

Re: NWR: went to see an apartment
when renting from a complex, is it possible to bargain with them? i was just looking at an apartment at a complex for 1300, then after we expressed interest it magically became 1350....i dont know if they rose the price because we were interested or it it was just a mistake.....

That is a great price! I would consider it, but it's not in the area that we are looking. I will keep it in mind if we can't find anything where we want. Thanks!

the apt sounds great a coat of paint will be fine you have to definatley pull up the carpets though and that will get rid of the dander
