NWR - What do i do?

FH has been dying to get a dog. I grew up with pets, my parents still have to 2 yorkies who are like my babies. FH never had any.

I am an animal person, i def want a dog, but i know how much work they are....fh does not realize since he's never had one.

Anyway we are going to look tonight, i just dont want to be the bad guy and keep saying no, but we are gone from the house like 12 hours a day for work when you add in commuting. And i would feel awful leaving it alone for so long. I would obviously get a dog walker to come.

What do you girls think. Yay or nay?

we are in the SAME situation, except for I am in your FH's position and you are in my FH's position. Don't do it. If you can find an older dog to adopt then I think it's ok as long as you have someone coming to your house in the middle of the day but it's not ok to leave a puppy alone all day, I heard it causes behavior problems.

as a animal lover I dont mean this in a mean way at all but a puppy is a baby and you wouldnt leave a baby alone for 12 hours a day .....I agree an older pet may be the best way to go ....puppies are great but if you dont have the time it isnt fair

I agree that you should get an older dog. Also, have you tried dog sitting for your parents? That way your FH knows what it's like to have pets around the house.

I heard it's better to get one and train him/her and then get the second one a few months later so it can learn from the first one. If you adopt two puppies they'll play off each others bad habits and be harder to train.

i dont think fh would agree to the 2nd puppy lol so i was just wishing BUT thank you bc if we just get 1 at first then later on it can be easier to convince him of a 2nd

Once you have one a second one will be so easy. You should just come home with one, you'll already be married so it's not like the wedding will be off or anything. I am evil!

OMG!!!! THAT PUPPY IS SOOOOOOOOOO CUTE!!!!!! I WOULD DIE!!! Ugh...it soooooooo hard but you really have to invest ALOT of time into a puppy. Being gone that long isn't fair. YA gotta think of them as babies....how would a baby feel if it was alone all day??? I know its sad to think of it that way but its true. I would wait until after things quiet down or at least until you can have someone come in the middle of the day and spend time with it. Also, you have to think about someone babysitting it while you're on your HM and stuff too...............ugh then you look at that FACE!!!! Good luck!!! I'm sure if you guys just think about it practically you'll make the right decision, whatever it is

Re: NWR - What do i do?

Fh and I have the problem that he wants a cat and i want a dog. he currently has 2 cats (but they are his moms) and I have 2 dogs at my house with my family.

I am not much of a cat person though i love all animals but my borther is very allergic. Im sure ill convince him to get a dog over a cat

FH gets so mad because my dad tells us when we get a house im taking all my pets with me. (2 dogs, a rabbit and a turtle) FH says our house is going to be a zoo. haha.. I plan on taking my rabbit and turtle but my dogs should stay with my family,m plus one of my dogs is not so friendly and wouldnt do well with a move.

I know it's a hard situation but i would wait until you have more time to devote to a dog. I know someone who was not home for about 11 hrs per day and she got two puppies thinking they would keep eachother company....BAD IDEA!!

honestly i think everyone should have a dog. they are great. but to be honest with you, if you dont have the time to spend with a dog, its not really fair to get one and leave it alone all day.
