NWR: What happens when an employer files for disability on yourbehalf?

Any HR girls out there? Am I supposed to go this? DO they talk to my docs or get access to my medical records?? I DO NOT want that?

Can someone explain how this works?

TIA

Your HR dept will file for disability for you usually. They don't see your records.

They'll call disability co. - give them your info - name, ss#, address, days worked, wages, etc.

The disability company then requires your doctors info, name, phone, fax, etc (you should give that info to your HR dept) - they'll fax a form over to the doc - she/he'll have to send it back to disability.

Whole process takes about 2 business days. It's pretty quick. Then it's up to your employer whether the checks will be sent to them or you.

At least that's how it works with my disability co.

Have no fear - your office should NEVER see your med records.

yes... you should give it to them as soon as you can. Then there will be no hold-up when starting your claim.

Sorry I wasn't clear, give it to your employers.

Or tell them (HR) to start your claim and you'll call the disability co and give them your docs info.
