I would definately say something as I feel the same way you do. Maybe buy a card and write to him how much you love him and how important it is to you that he stay healthy. It will avoid the fight and you can still enjoy your florist appointment. Maybe nothing will need to be said out loud. Just an idea. Good luck.

Unfortunately - you cannot change a person. are you still able to love him even though he smokes??
With that said, if he does smoke, allow him to come clean- and if he has to smoke, let him smoke outside.

i am an ex smoker, so i know how hard it is to quit and i know what it is like to hide these things from loved ones. my fh still smokes, and he knows he will not be able to smoke in our house.

I have to agree...My FH and I are ex smokers, and he had to hide his smoking from his ex because she would flip out on him and degrade him if she caught him smoking. Of course, that's not really effective in helping someone to quit. He became really resentful of her because she didn't understand how hard it was for him to not smoke.

The best thing you can do is let him know how much you care about him and that you will help him to quit if he wants to...Quitting smoking is a really tough thing to do (I know, I've done it and it s u c k e d)...He will definitely need your support to do it.

Agreed. As an ex-smoker (2 years on June 11th) it was one of the hardest things I had to do. I know you're upset, but maybe if you speak to him and offer some support it will help. FH never smoked a day in his life and sometimes I don't think he realizes how hard it is on a daily basis. And I've stopped for TWO YEARS and I still get cravings. It's not easy. Good luck!
