My brothers girlfriend is leaving Sunday for 6 months to go to Japan. She will be there teaching Japanese children to speak English. I feel like i should get her a gift or something. Is that appropriate? What do i give? Any ideas???

How about a travelers journal and some stationary so she can write cards to people...

It's very appropiate and thoughfull. how about a basket of little things that she won't find there and that it will remind her of home like favorite coffee, or favorite snacks. something like that.

Exactly what I was going to say. Get her a basket of magazines, stationary, some snacks she likes.. maybe a few dvd's of her favorite tv shows here in the US.

Thanks you guys!! I wan't thinking in the right direction - your ideas are great. I am sure my brother will appreciate her having the calling card - i know he will miss her. The magazines and stationary stuff - i know she will appreciate that on the plane ride over.
