NWR what would be a fair amount?

NWR what would be a fair amount?

Long story short: I'm taking a cake decorating class at Michaels, and I have to bring a cake every week. My friend is baking it and frosting it for me this week and one next week as well. It's yellow cake w/ white frosting. I supplied her with the cake mix, the frosting, the cake carrier, and the turnstyle.

She just started her own baking business, so I asked how much she charges for this and she said she isn't charging me and doesn't want money. However, I've known her forever and she just started her own business. I am refusing to not give her something.

How much do you think I should give her per cake? She isn't going to tell me a price, so I want to figure out what is fair. $10? $15? $20? (per cake) What do you all think?

How many cakes total will she have made when you're done with your class?

chances are she might not take the money from you, so maybe you can send her a thank you gift, maybe edible arrangements just to show you appreciate her taking the time to do this for you?

I was thinking a gift card so that she could buy supplies for her new business.

I agree with the gift card because its easier to give you back money and not accept it but a gc is personalized to that specific person.

I think a gift cards the best way. Even to like starbucks or something, just to let her know you appreciates all she did without handing her cash that she said she didn't want you to give her.

If she is a friend she probably will not take your money. She probably wants to do this favor for you. Also, it doesn't sound like the cakes are so complex, it's just a basic cake that takes like 30 minutes to make. I would give her a thank you gift that isn't money, so it is easier for her to take.

my initial reaction was $20 per cake...

but then i read other suggestions, like a gift card to a place she can get supplies at, or an edible arrangement! they have little ones that are sooo cute, or even the box of chocolate covered strawberries. something like this i would give her after your class is over, as a thank you for both cakes.

i would try to do something, as a thank you

ITA. i think it's easier to treat dinner than to give her money. it's probably be easier for her to accept it too.

I would either get her a gift card or a nice gift to show your appreciation.
