Hey Kelly, they should be opening this Powerhouse Gym soon on Wellwood...they are having all these pre-opening sales
There's also Synergy in the Pathmark shopping center.
I personally go to Lucille Roberts in Massapequa that I know a lot of girls aren't a big fan of, but due to my teaching sked I get there & always get a machine, etc. & its reasonable (300 for 2 yrs)

I go to Bally's in Copiague. It's a nice gym (meathead-less in my experience) but the problem with them is getting your membership. It's like buying a used car. So if you go there, don't go with their first offer, haggle with them. It's totally ridiculous. The benefit to Bally's though, in my case, is that I can go there or to the one by my office.
And to comment on what the girl above me wrote, it's actually a Powerhouse Gym opening on Wellwood and I would have joined there had they opened the gym sooner. If I had to pick, I would go there.
there's also a gym, I think it's called All Natural which is on Hoffman Ave. in Lindy. I don't know too much about it though. And there's a World Gym on Little East Neck Road.

I suggest the YMCA in bayshore. They have a really great fitness center and offer classes. The best thing is they are SOOOOOOO reasonable!!

Fitness Incentive in Babylon is great. They offer tons of classes, spinning, and it's mostly women. The only downside is that is it expensive. I went there for years before I moved to the Huntington area.

I go to the Bally's on Sunrise in Copaigue - it is huge, but it is always crowded, especially early in the morning and evenings, so if you work 9-5 it stinks!

I used to go to All 4 Sports in West Islip. I loved it, but I've since moved. It's well kept, the equipment is nice, and it's a good crowd. I know the owners, and they really put a lot into that place.
The Bally's in Copaigue is really nice. I signed up about 10 years ago, and I can use any Bally's in the country. I only pay $144 a year now - granted the intial fee is pretty hefty, but like someone said above you have to bargain with them. I actually keep this as a back up membership so that when I visit family I can go to the gym, and when I move back to suburbia I can use them as my full-time gym.

Take a look at LA Fitness in Farmingdale. It is still pretty close to the area you asked about. It is a nice fairly new clean gym. It is NEVER over crowded and is more of the 30's something type of people. Very few muscleheads because there is a Powerhouse up the road and I think they all go there. I dont think it is overpriced and their hours are great. They also have a huge clean pool. HTH

I go to the Synergy in West Babylon, in the Pathmark shopping center. I absolutely love it (and I hate going to the gym, lol). It is NEVER too crowded. The owner is great, very nice guy. They have a lot of classes and it is SUPER clean. (I have slight OCD, so that's extremely important to me). FM me if you want more details.
I checked out the Ballys in Copiague when I was looking to join and found it to be dirty and extremely crowded. Plus they wouldn't stop harassing us to join. And the parking situation there *****. However, it was a lot cheaper. But to me not worth the money I would be saving.
