NWR - Where can I buy this??

Ok, I admit it - I am semi-clueless when it comes to the kitchen and food shopping... I was just wondering where I can purchase dark chocolate to melt and make chocolate covered strawberries!

I work in Lake Success and live on the North Shore in Nassau.

Thanks so much!!!!!!!!

you could use milk chocolate and buy it in the bag from the grocery store.. the same ones you use to make chocolate chip cookies.. they may even have dark chocolate

hmmm....There used to be that candy store in the shopping center on Union Tpke in Lake Success...not sure if that's still open. I try and avoid it as much as possible...It's a mad house this time of year!

I'm trying to think whatelse is over there?

Also if you have a craft store nearby like AC Moore or Michaels they have meltable chocolate in the candy mold aisle.

In any supermarket usually near the fruit aisle or in the baking aisle they have chocolates that come in a cup and you put it in the microwave and melt it and there you have your chocolate perfect for chocolate covered strawberries and pretzels. It's really easy.

You get bakers chocolate in the supermarket and use a doble boiler to melt it.

You can make a double boiler if you don't have one by taking a larger pot and put water in it and a smaller pot that will rest about 1/3 to 1/4 into the water. Let the water boil. You want the upper pot inside when the water is cool to heat up as the water is boiling.

Take the squares of chocolate and melt them. For strawberries take toothpicks and insert them part way down through the stem. Use the toothpick to help you dip them. Set the chocolate dipped strawberries onto wax paper and put into the refrigerator. It will take about an hour for them to set, but for better results let them sit a few hours.

For a thinner chocolate mix margarine into the chocolate as it is melting and stir. then dip as above.

I used to work in Lake Success...believe it or not Party City sometimes has the melting chocolate from Wilton's. It's in the same shopping center as the Washington Mutual and Pathmark I think on Marcus Ave. near New Hyde Park Rd.
